  1. you're only thinking about this in terms of the last few years. going back 25 years, the top teams in the conference are michigan, OSU, PSU and nebraska. two should be in one division and two should be in the other. divisioning really shouldn't matter in basketball.
  2. there's another example of a guy who should be given a yellow after the match; he got grazed on the thigh by kaita's boot and went down like he tore his acl. apparently diving is an artform in southern europe. [expletive] greece.
  3. the nigerians need to start shoving greek players and hope they hit back, that's how they can get back in this game.
  4. i just hate the rule. basically it encourages the greek player to shove the ball into the nigerian player hoping that he retaliates. instigator gets nothing and the retaliation is harshly punished. it's stupid.
  5. that's a straight red? lame.
  6. lol what was the goalie doing there?
  7. p.s. that fourth goal was terrific, especially the chip pass
  8. well this is turning into an ass kicking
  9. i thought this was a thread about ncaa conference realignment
  10. that vuvuzela sheet music is fantastic
  11. windy conditions are a disaster for mickelson. he plays a high ball on his approach shots. that's why he never contends at the british open.
  12. byu is in provo... u. of utah is in SLC. not that it makes a big difference as far as mileage.
  13. Moral of the story is: Never bet on baseball, soccer, or hockey. fortunately it's centsports so i've lost about a fake dollar
  14. foulacy is arguing something completely different than everyone else is talking about. everyone knows OU has a good football tradition, but that doesn't matter.
  15. second time in this tourney i've been boned over on a bet during injury time. bet the under on uruguay-south africa and the very late goal pushed them over 2.5, and bet slovakia only to have new zealand score with less than a minute left. [expletive]!
  16. huh maybe now we will have an organization that knows when a pitcher's ERA is outperforming his peripherals (john grabow) or a hitter is having a career year because of luck on balls in play (aaron miles) so that the dumb ass signings will stop.
  17. tough break for south africa
  18. i don't know that colvin is an everyday player - evidence likely points to no - but his numbers were much better last year than the rest of his minor league career with a better walk rate, more hard-driven balls, more power and fewer pop ups. this year he's also been performing well. let's face it, the cubs are going nowhere this year and they're not likely to be good next year either. among the position players they have a large number of known quantities, including fukudome, who will likely be a cub no longer than the end of next season. if the cubs aren't going anywhere, i'd rather have them give ABs to an unknown quantity like colvin than a guy like fukudome who is known and is unlikely to be a long-term part of the team. it's possible that colvin made a breakthrough and could be at least an average starting OF; it's also possible that he profiles better as a fourth outfielder (nady type) or that big league pitchers will figure him out and he won't even be an adequate backup OF in the bigs. but i'd rather find it out now.
  19. Makes me almost wish he was here for the last couple of weeks. you're a mod, make it happen
  20. the true comedy gold came in the first ten pages when cubbiebum touted purdue as the class of the conference and said that women's sports would play just as big a role in divisioning. not to mention his 90 page report that he consulted senator nancy pelosi about.
  21. for some reason nobody in our fantasy world cup group picked switzerland to beat spain.
  22. yeah a .308 obp is pretty bad (as is a .324 obp) but his splits are just about even in the minors with about 500 ABs against LHP. i don't see enough evidence to say he can't hit LHP. the cubs suck; might as well just let colvin play every day and see if he can cut it. we're alraedy doing that with castro (to a point where lou refuses to NOT play him, even though he hasn't hit for a month).
  23. minor league career vs lhp: 0.277/0.308/0.460/0.768 minor league career vs rhp: 0.276/0.324/0.461/0.785
