  1. really glad that good aramis is back. now please don't opt out of your contract and go to the red sox.
  2. lol did dempster bang this guy's wife or something? what a strange player to have a vendetta against.
  3. i didn't hate the 2006 team. that team was awful on paper and they played that way in real life. it wasn't like they had a lot of potential and should have been at least .500... they were just wretched.
  4. dempster seems committed to "operation get a better draft pick"
  5. that's 4 walks issued in 2 nights to jeff keppinger. always a great move to walk a guy who can't hit much.
  6. good call ricketts, guarantee a guy's job when he spent almost $280 million the last two years on a .500 team.
  7. milwaukee gave up 9 runs to pittsburgh in the first inning... 7 hits, 1 walk, 3 errors, 9 runs. wtg brewers.
  8. uh oh, mcnutt is out after 1.2 and only 1 run allowed. here's the action that led up to him being removed: also, marcos mateo started for tennessee, not dolis.

  10. Yes, I enjoyed the Cup. I would not get much enjoyment from watching DVDs of the games later on though. It already happened. I know it happened. If a game was on ESPN classic while I was flipping through channels, then I could see watching it for a few minutes, but actually putting it in the DVD player and watching the whole thing wouldn't do much for me. If it's 20 years from now and they haven't won another cup it's only going to start annoying me to see video of when they were good. 85 Bears highlights aren't fun anymore. so if you watch a movie or tv show and really love it, you won't watch it again in the future?
  11. frequent reader of the jakarta globe, rocket?
  12. haha yeah i was pretty sure that assertion was wrong, but didn't know how to prove it... good to see mlb.com still has those hit charts.
  13. matt matulia, who played second base during his cubs minor league career and is now described as a "player coach" - even though he hadn't played this year - pitched 5 innings of scoreless baseball to get the win. i guess he's a coach who is available to play in emergencies?
  14. also, trever miller has been at least a decent reliever for a number of years, jason motte is young but throws 100 mph, and mcclellan has been a solid pitcher for them for a few years now. they're certainly more talented than two kids who don't have big league arms and a guy who was good three years ago.
  15. It's baseball. These things just happen when you have a team that has been struggling to play consistently good baseball. Like I said, when the Cubs have lost to bad teams this year it's typically been due to the inconsistent offense. Tonight happened to be because of the pitching. It happens. There is no mysterious metaphysical reason. if you're rolling mitch atkins, justin berg and washed-up bob howry out of the bullpen, then the bullpen problem is most certainly talent level.
  16. so in reality, this is a 10 year, $99m deal. he's making less than a million per year the last 7 years of the deal, when he's either unlikely to be playing or will be going back to russia for his twilight years. they should've just made it a 50 year, $110 million deal.
  17. Fixed. actually if you had told me in march that we'd have silva, atkins and berg pitching in one game, i probably would have guessed that we'd give up 10. how about some major league arms on this team?
  18. any more terrible hitters want to rake today? way to give up 10 to this awful lineup.
  19. if by "is" you mean "was" then i agree 100%. he's 37 years old now and isn't fast any more.
  20. it's a salary dump. we were $2.5m over the cap. there's no "owning" involved in this trade. the nhl really needs to fix that loophole in the salary cap - these 12/15/17 year deals are absurd.
  21. juan castro??? didn't j.r. towles also hit a home run against us once upon a time?
  22. archer is the man... still no earned runs allowed at tennessee. vitters has another walk!!! and two strikeouts
