  1. your dylan bundy update: 4 ip, 0 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 6 k. numbers on the year: 13 ip, 0 h, 0 r, 1 bb, 21 k. holy [expletive].
  2. The [expletive]? It's basically the same lineup they've been putting out there for the last two seasons plus Martin. yeah i don't get it. this is actually a worse lineup than many of the ones they've had the past few years. 2009 lineup: jeter, damon, teixeira, a-rod, matsui, posada, cano, swisher, melky cabrera 2010: jeter, swisher, teixeira, a-rod, cano, posada, granderson, n. johnson/berkman/thames, cerevelli/posada 2011: jeter, granderson, teixeira, a-rod, cano, swisher, posada/a. jones, martin/cerevelli actually if you take a look at the yankees' lineups over the past 15 years, this year's lineup is probably in the bottom third. jeter is old and not that great any more (unless you really are buying into his 1.000+ ops), teixeira has started to decline, a-rod is clearly not the same player he was when he was younger and on steroids, brett gardner is a nice player but not great offensively, and they don't have an impact DH (raul ibanez is playing most days, and he sucks). plus martin is a pretty far cry from posada.
  3. i picked the kings (aka flyers west) to win the cup before the season... guess i'll stick with my kings over bruins prediction. can't believe the rangers are struggling so much with ottawa... as a flyers fan i'd be thrilled if the sens could take out the rags, since the rags won all 5 games with the flyers.
  4. giroux's first round: 6 goals, 8 assists, 14 points, +6, 6 even strength points, 3 shorthanded points, 5 power play points. BEAST
  5. put cliff lee on DL :x and added some other guy. also, if anyone is ready to give up and would like to trade good players, i would like to acquire those good players.
  6. is loosen being kept on a short leash or something? came out after two relatively uneventful innings for daytona.
  7. I'm assuming you are talking about the MiLB picture? He looks awfully old in that picture. Yeah he looks crazy old for 19. also known as "greg oden disease"
  8. brett jackson has struck out only twice in the last 5 games... only has 3 hits during that time though.
  9. nobody likes you. Gee Kap, I sure didn't see this coming. it takes a big man to mock another man's charitable cause.
  10. those would be your casual baseball fans.
  11. Probably as good of news as anything we'll get on the minor league front tonight. He's still got plenty of time for things to click. i wouldn't get too excited about him taking an intentional walk. It was 3-0 and then they intentionally walked him. is that really scored as an intentional walk? i thought at least 2 of the pitches had to be intentional balls for it to be scored an IBB.
  12. don larsen, cy young, dallas braden, roy halladay, "who?", sandy koufax, david cone, randy johnson, david cone, david wells... that's all i can remember. half isn't bad though.
  13. Probably as good of news as anything we'll get on the minor league front tonight. He's still got plenty of time for things to click. i wouldn't get too excited about him taking an intentional walk.
  14. haha my parents live in camden, i'll have to go see a game if they're playing while i'm home in august. Your parents live in Camden? yes, pretty much directly across the street from the ballpark.
  15. breaking news, he's still really good. 4 gs, 25.0 ip, 17 h, 3 er, 0 hr, 6 bb, 25 k, 1.08 era, 0.92 whip.
  16. nelson perez weirdly has 11 walks in 13 games after coming into this year with 83 walks and 456 strikeouts in 426 minor league games. i mean, he's 24 and really not a prospect, just a weird statistical anomaly.
  17. i dunno, code of honor and players not wanting to forfeit a lot of salary. i mean, this is a pretty harsh penalty. most guys who have gotten 20+ games have done things like swinging a stick into another player's head. this is more of a "hockey play" than trying to decapitate someone with your stick. too bad it got to this point though. the montage in the suspension video makes it obvious that torres just doesn't get it (about checking late and targeting the head). if this suspension doesn't get the message across, then he probably needs to be suspended for at least a year if not banned outright.
  18. gotta say, it's pretty damn impressive to go from a 99.7% chance of winning to a 3.6% chance of winning within 2 innings.
  19. oh by the way that guy we were supposedly getting for marlon byrd (justin thomas) is now pitching for the red sox.

  21. rob was saying he wished we'd held onto him until closer to the deadline; you seem dissatisfied with the trade for reasons that aren't completely clear.
  22. the deal is fine. guys like marlon byrd just aren't fetching much in the trade market these days. carlos pena was fine last year, and they apparently couldn't get more than a turd in a wet paper bag for him. byrd's power numbers have declined the last 2 years, his overall numbers last year weren't very good (yeah you can say he tired in september, but the other GM is just going to say that a CF with an OPS barely above .700 isn't worth much), and he's off to a wretched start this year, which will make it harder for him to have respectably good numbers by the trade deadline. better to give the playing time to someone like campana or sappelt and try to find out what you have there, than hope that byrd turns it around and can fetch a marginally better prospect or a few hundred grand extra in salary savings.
