  1. the marlins are 1-9 and have scored 17 runs in 10 games  when they play bad teams with small fan bases in august and september, there are going to be like 12 people in attendance.
  2. i'll be out of the country for the entire season.
  3. you can probably understand why i didn't give you the benefit of the doubt.
  4. Reason #750,014 - fujikawa got the win in this game.
  5. Good God, it's mid-April. So much for Global Warming. That is not how global warming works.
  6. i would've gone with al capone/bobby deniro dinner scene in the untouchables.
  7. the hell do you think kevin goldstein is? and keith law
  8. yes i can't think of any non-cub prospects who did something stupid with a bat, like, say, throwing it an an umpire.
  9. Wow... http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8118/8632771029_037cfd4de4_o.gif i love that nathan, zobrist and the catcher clearly react as if it's ball four. that article by neyer was kind of embarrassing... if everyone thinks it's a ball, including the pitcher and catcher, chances are really damn high that it's a ball, and a pretty obvious one at that.
  10. a successful bunt added 0.1% to the win expectancy. there were other negative possibilities - pop out, bad bunt that results in the runner being thrown out at third, strike out (and of course there's the smaller chance of a more positive outcome, like fielder's choice with runner safe at third, or a throwing error on the bunt allowing the baserunner to score. i think the move is probably a net negative when you take into account the other possibilities, but i don't think it's an egregiously bad call to bunt there.
  11. i'll have a pretty empty feeling about castro's career if he doesn't end up improving much from his age 20 season. still a really useful player, but i hoped (hope?) for so much more.
  12. i just want to know how someone with not that much power can strike out so [expletive] much. it's like he decided during that fluky season with the white sox that he is a power hitter and can strike out like adam dunn.
  13. Chris Davis is on pace to knock in 594 runs this season.
  14. I don't know why he's still listed as a 3b. He only played 1 game (and 4 innings) there last year. He should have lost 3b eligibility.
  15. Well, now I am just half as bitter toward Marwin Gonzalez.
  16. he only has a contract through next year. if he could stay in shape and be productive, he'd make a [expletive]-ton of money in free agency. instead he seems determined to cost himself $50m because he can't stop eating.
  17. FML i would've had like 300 fantasy points if he'd gotten that out, now i don't even get a CG SO.
  18. I honestly don't think any of their position players would be. Maybe 2, Altuve as a backup MI and Carter in the AL as part of a DH platoon? yeah, i guess a lot of it depends on whether carter's second half last year was for real. if it was, then he's definitely a legitimate starter on a good team. i'd say altuve could start for a good team, since he was solid last year at just 22. maybe jason castro, if he's one of the worst hitters on the team?
  19. how many astros starters would be regulars on a good big market team? one?
  20. fatso brett wallace is playing third base? lol
  21. yeah speaking of teams with a terrible lineup. i am definitely interested to see how darvish goes this season. his first two-thirds of the season he missed a lot of bats, but he struggled with his command a lot (79bb in his first 140.2 innings). but then in his last 7 starts he walked only 10 guys in 50.2 innings. he seems tough to hit, so if he can cut down on his walk rate he could be one of the best starters in the league.
