  1. What name change? he used to be Ian Oquendo and then he became Ian Snell for some reason. It was the last name of his baby's mama. Snell is his birth-name. Is that why? LAME. You don't change your name because of that, and you don't get to change it back. Ian Oquendo it is!
  2. What? Snell used to be Oquendo? yeah, in two of my BA prospect handbooks his name is Ian Oquendo.

  4. I'm trying to get everyone to call Snell "Oquendo"... the name change still annoys and perplexes me.
  5. Wait, runs scoring without base hits? Does not compute. That might be Floyd's inevitable injury.
  6. wow, some great ABs this inning... keep getting oquendo's pitch count up baby
  7. 5-for-11 coming into the game against Oquendo... c'mon ARam
  8. okay jason marquis is our new hitting coach
  9. Three-year splits for April (not including this year): 206/294/392/686 LaRoche always starts out terrible... just not usually this bad. Still, the second half of last year he put up a 1.042 OPS. He'll heat up with the weather.
  10. That would be true except for the first high school player that Wilken drafted last year was in the 9th round. the next polished college hitter that I see the cubs draft in the first 2 rounds will be the first one in Lord knows how long Bobby Hill's my first guess. Colvin Colvin's hardly a polished hitter. I'd agree with Bobby Hill though.
  11. I don't think so. I don't believe that he has enough power to be "very good" among leftfielders. I think he can be a little above average at the position.
  12. difference is, hill was dominating aaa batters... the same can hardly be said for guzman.

  14. I'll also add that I don't think you have to worry the Cubs taking Payne, since he's the type of player a team that wins like the Red Sox or A's will select. The Cubs will nab a free-swinging loser from high school with a cannon arm who can hit a ball 500 feet, on the rare occasion that he makes contact.
  15. I think that's hyperbole, but I don't disagree that he should be playing more.
  16. What's funny is that you base most of your analysis of players on statistics, but here's a guy who statistically looks very good, and because the scouts don't like him, you're saying he's not that good a ballplayer. But I'll cease the discussion here. I've always found it's pointless debating someone who "knows" they're always right.
  17. sorry i didn't get back to you within the allotted 18 hour time limit
  18. fine, feel free to regale us with more of your horribly flawed analysis of the player. expand and back up your claims. You criticized him based on his number of HRs per plate appearance, which penalizes anybody who has a patient approach at the plate.
  19. Given the difference between their Pythagorean record and their actual record, and their record in close games, I'd say that's the biggest reason why the Cubs are losing.
  20. Murton needs to play regularly to get comfortable, rather than being jerked around with pinch hits and spot starts. and how long do you put a guy in and watch him flail away? You're not serious are you? yeah, I am. Murton wasn't great last year and he's been bad this year. My bigger problem with him is not that he's hitting poorly, but that his approach sucks. I don't care that he's not hitting great, but he's just going up and hacking at everything. The problem is that Pie and Floyd are doing the same crap. I'd be playing Murton regularly, but I'd tell everybody that if they don't start seeing more pitches and getting on base more, then I'll find somebody else who will. Murton can be a nice player, but he's not talented enough to hack away at everything and still be productive.
  21. he sure as crap is better than eyre
  22. So they could have another lousy hitter?
  23. somewhere joe morgan is smiling... this makes me sad
