  1. give me a break, there's a LHP on the mound and instead of putting in Murton, they insert the lefthanded Fontenot. Did Soto and Murton nail the wives of Piniella and Hendry?
  2. great.. averages 150+ games the past 6 years, and now he can't stay healthy for the cubs.
  3. oh good to hear that this is still our country
  4. more 250-300 foot fly balls with the wind roaring out
  5. i didn't need k-zone to see that was a lousy call
  6. Marquis' location is pretty lousy... the Mets are gonna tee off if he keeps this up
  7. i don't care if myers arm falls off tomorrow, leave him in phillies
  8. who knows..... apparently the only people who don't realize this happen to be running the organization
  9. or say, Johan Santana. I think Santana will be getting a much larger contract than Zambrano. don't go too far out on that limb
  10. yet another young guy who plays great for the brewers. they really need some prospects to flop.
  11. can't say i'm looking forward to mesa/alfonseca/other bullpen trash facing braun and fielder
  12. you'd have some really lively debates with yourself
  13. i'd sure rather have kendall's dink and dunk singles than soto, who's hitting a home run every game for iowa
  14. so will braun hit the walkoff homer this inning or leading off next inning? stay tuned.
  15. Manuels not a great manager....................... they don't have anyone to pinch hit anyway understatement of the year
  16. Well given that he has a career .366 OBP and .804 OPS in the minors, I'd say yes, the do suggest that he projects as something more than a "decent back up infielder." Meanwhile Ronny's career numbers are considerably worse - not necessarily a fair comparison because Cedeno started out in the minors when he was 18 and has always been young for his level, but the fact remains that Fontenot exhibits better patience, and his ability to not swing at everything means he hasn't been exploited at the big league level like Ronny has. Do you think that his solid minor league stats have something to do with the fact that he repeated AAA twice and was old for his level by a couple years by the end of it? I'm not saying Fontenot's bad, and I wouldn't want to release him, but I don't think that he is cut out to be an everyday second baseman. There's no such thing as being "old for his level" at AAA. A bunch of guys playing there are in their 30s. And yes, he probably was having as much success as he had at Iowa this year because he was there for a third year in a row, but his first year at Iowa he had a line of .272/.377/.430. I don't know that he projects as an above-average second baseman, but he could be adequate, or at least a versatile backup. Meanwhile I have no confidence that Ronny Cedeno can be a decent starting shortstop.
  17. 2007: .260 .336 .400 2008 (age 28) .271 .351 .425 2009 (age 29) .267 .342 .416 2010 (age 30) .264 .346 .406 2011 (age 31) .266 .342 .410 Great for a second baseman? Not at all. But adequate? Sure. And those are certainly better than your garden-variety backup middle infielder.
  18. lawl, milwaukee blew it??? hahaha
  19. Piggy, Cherry, Rapada, and Marmol will be fixtures in our BP for years to come. disagree. Marmol probably, the others I doubt it. I'm sure the advance scouts will take your prognostication into consideration. Are advance scouts the only ones allowed to give opinions about players on this board? Coming into this season you probably didn't think Marmol would be a fixture in our pen for years to come. Both Rapada and Pignietallo (probably misspelled) look like promising players and deserve a shot. Actually I have been on record as saying that I really liked Marmol as an option out of the bullpen, rather than the starting rotation. Rapada could possibly be a situational lefty. Pignatiello's stuff is fringy, and he might be more of a AAAA pitcher whose stuff just isn't quite good enough to be effective against major league hitters.
