  1. i'm kinda pissed, the cubs have hit the ball hard a ton of times and the pirates have like one hard-hit ball, and the game is tied
  2. same crap they did his last outing against them.... lots of dinking and dunking
  3. i'm pretty sure that i'd have a better chance to hit a curveball than craig monroe
  4. nyjer morgan now 30 for 31 against the cobs
  5. they sure as crap need it... the average age of the position players on that team is about 85
  6. Moreno will want nothing to do with him and his image. yeah someone reminded me of that last night. Aside from Moreno the Angels would've been a great fit for him. I don't see him signing in Texas because they're not going to contend for anything next year. Maybe Seattle? If the Yankees sign him, then they're basically eating Giambi's contract.
  7. So you're saying that a) Hitting 58 home runs in a year isn't flukish. and b) Hitting 58 home runs in your first full season in the majors isn't flukish. I really don't see how his 2006 season wasn't flukish. I'm not saying it was a complete fluke as he is a good hitter with a ton of power but he's not going to replicate that year in and year out. Okay I can agree that it was somewhat flukish, but nobody is going to convince me that he's not a better player than Adam Dunn, and by a fair amount.
  8. that is one handsome gentleman
  9. Never saw the measurement on it, but it definitely went over Waveland. It was an absolute bomb. Official measurement was 430FT. It landed on Kenmore. Damn that was a monster shot it seems like it went farther then that. it did, i don't believe 430 feet at all
  10. plus monroe sucks
  11. Yeah but who coulda saw that coming? definitely not every person on an internet message board
  12. Want a hint as to where he'd land? Best idea is to look at the Team DH stats. Boston can afford him, but they have Ortiz. Same with the White Sox, but Thome is fine there. The Yankees could use his bat, but do they want to take him on, and does he want to go there? I think the best bet is the Angels. They definitely have money, they definitely have lack of offense from the DH spot (.693 OPS? that's atrocious) and they should offer a pretty good chance at winning a title next season.
  13. i'm guessing that some team won't mind taking on baggage like a 1.053 OPS and .483 (!!) OBP.
  14. what are we doing with Blanco and his atrocious $2.8M (essentially $3.1M once you include the buyout) contract? I don't know, but do you have a healthy veteran player who you simply bench for all of September and then bring him back the next year? I would be surprised by that, but then again the other options are not all that likely either (cut-possible, trade-no, retire-probably most probable) I'm sure some team would gladly take Blanco off of the Cubs hands. He is still known as a defensive specialist, and his rep will land him somewhere. for a price... cubs would have to eat at least half that contract, it's God-awful
  15. probably will be a little bit of a breeze blowing in tomorrow. Definitely not the slugfest conditions that we saw today. let's get a win, one-pitch rich!

  17. i'm looking forward to this season, mostly because the flyers won't be the worst team in the NHL. Very weird feeling, that was.
  18. that hgh shipment came just in the nick of time
  19. as i said in the game thread, soto offers power potential and the ability to lift the ball, whereas kendall slaps hits around the park. When the wind is blowing out, you HAVE to take advantage of Soto's power by having him in the lineup. This goes for the playoffs too, Mr. Piniella. edit - knock on wood about the playoffs thingy
  20. okay, it's racist and it's stupid. First of all, last year wasn't really that flukish - as I said, Howard's numbers have been brought down because he was battling a nagging injury for much of the first year. And I'm not sure how you can call something flukish when it was his first full season in the big leagues - it's not like there was any sort of career trend that he was bucking. And, I can tell you that Howard is viewed very favorably in Philadelphia, doing good things in the community and not going out acting like a maniac. He's not PacMan Jones, and there's no reason to think that Ryan Howard has any greater chance of getting in trouble with the law than does Adam Dunn.
  21. it would be really good for me, and i don't care who else it would be good for
  22. note that most of my post discussed the last two years, and i'm pretty sure that adam dunn's numbers were not being "pulled down" at age 26/27.
  23. I guess the good part about Soto continuing to rake and show good defensive abilities is that I'm actually starting to believe Hendry and Lou would be comfortable heading into 2008 with Geo penciled in as the starter.
