what's the procedure for players not in the system? just declare them here & they're off-limits til next amateur draft?

wait till they're in the system and pick them up.

I am not cool with whatever just happened. Somehow my record was adjusted to 2-2 with no information on why or how. Apparently the CBS rules are incorrect and I had to drop players. I did and now I am down a loss. Did the players I drop effect this? I'm confused and not understanding how a team's record can be unilaterally changed without justification and warning.

i didn't know your roster has been illegal for weeks. i found out, posted on cbs what i did and why.

you're allowed 16 active players, 3 bench players, and 3 DL spots. The sticky thread that says Rules lays this out. We've posted here and at cbs multiple times that the cbs limits aren't correct. we adjust them up so that you can move starters to your bench to avoid going over 7 starts (look at my roster today, actually, i have extra guys on the bench and only 5 pitchers active so i won't exceed 7 starts with the 2 guys i have going tomorrow; but i'm not exceeding the total of 19 non-DL MLB players on my roster).

you had somewhere between 4 and 5 bench players all last week or almost all last week. you've had 5-6 bench players this week. the penalty for an illegal roster is generally losing your best start or best hitter each day your roster is illegal, which is why you lost last week and why i took away your 2 best starts this week.

This is ridiculous. You set rules up in the place where the rules are supposed to be on the league stating that you can have 6 reserves and then you arbitrarily apply some sort of penalty with no warning or reasoning. Yet you say that the rules have been told multiple times. However that is not true as I am new to league, the rules are not multiple times. I had an illegal roster by these standards and it did not provide any advantage or disadvantge in either week's play yet I am being harmed by following the rules on the site

you do know you can write these rules on the league page to avoid all this correct? Wouldn't the more prudent punishment be to eliminate the points that the so called extra players counted for? Especially since that was the alleged competitive advantage?

No. The rules are clear here and I've posted multiple times this year about the reason for the extra bench spots on CBS. The penalty that was enforced is less than what the rules call for actually. I'm sorry but I'm also not getting into this again.

Can someone who is better at searching the archive find that post by abuck from last year or the year before where he lays out the penalties? I'll add it to the Rules sticky thread. It's the 3 options for removing points for an illegal roster, which is something like (1) best start, (2) best hitter's points, or (3) % of points.

clearly the rules are Unclear as you don't even know the penalties yet you assigned them to me.

Again, i state I have no access to the archives as I have stated multiple times. SO now if the expectation is that I search there for the rules and not on the actual site used for the rules I am at a loss as to how better to point out the problems with this system.

bottom line is if you expect people to follow rules put them where the rules belong on the rules page of the league site along with explanations for penalties and expectations of owners.

the only thing in question is the percentage of points lost if it's more than your best start or best hitter. I took your top 2 starts away this week and your top 1 start away last week. You had an illegal lineup for a lot more than 3 days. If you'd prefer, I'll take more points away, which is what the rules would call for. i get why you're frustrated, but i didn't start the league, i didn't make the rules or the penalties, and I didn't write the rules thread or the rules page on cbs. I've been updating the rules thread where I can to make things more clear, but I just took on this commissioner horsefeathers last year as we burn through commissioners almost as quickly as we burn through owners.

I've already explained why the cbs site says you can have 6 bench players. You're choosing to ignore that and continue bitching. I get that you're frustrated; it's a complex league. the rules aren't perfectly clear on the cbs site and they may conflict with the rules thread here. that's not going to change overnight and really no one has expressed a willingness to take the laboring oar in cleaning it all up, so it may never get fixed. we do the best we can.
