2005 was the year that the White Sox won the World Series right? Or was it 2006? Anyway, I was wondering if any of you knew what the White Sox record was at this point of the season and what their record was at the All-Star break. I'm wondering thus far, as to how the Cubs of this year compare to that 2005 squad. If I'm not mistaken the Southsiders started out like gangbusters that season, only to go into a mini slump as they neared the All-Star break (much like our Cubs) but of course they picked it up again, after that. Just curious. Any thoughts on the matter?

Their implosion was toward the end. They werent so much bad as the Indians were hot. A combination of the two. They almost blew the big lead but swept the Indians at the end.

Actually, they wrapped up the division the game before the Indians series. The Indians series meant nothing to the White Sox, but everything to the Indians.

Which Indian series?

Sept. 19-21 was meaningful, I believe the Sox were only 2.5 games up at the beginning of the series.

The only reason I bring it up is I was at the game on the 20th (don't ask why). At home, against their biggest rival, late September, only up 2.5 games, they led the division from start to finish, and they were only at 60% capacity. Whenever a Sox fan likes to tell me how Cub fans suck, I remind them of this game and it always shuts them up.

It was 2005. 2006 was the year that the barely-over-.500 Cardinals won.
