Logo? Any of you have some talent?

I've been tinkering around trying to create a logo for my web page. Do any of you guys know of a good program (preferably free) that I could use to create one?

What do you have in mind? I would start by drawing some ideas and taking it from there. I designed the logo for my Ripken site and Jon was nice enough to create it for me:

I was trying to alter the back of an old tobacco card. I downloaded The Gimp, but I'm really lost trying to do anything constructive with it.

The guys on the Beckett board have done a good job making custon A & G cards but I have no clue as to what program they've used. I presume you're going to use something like a Piedmont font on the back of the card?

Yeah, exactly. I keep trying to work with this program, I'm just new to it.

I'm new to the Gimp program as well and it's quite a bit to learn.

I went ahead and made this one with NSBB this morning using the template we were scratching on last night. Not a perfect match, but it doesn't look that bad for a rookie IMHO:

Thanks. The colors don't match that close but I appreciate the smudge effect on it. Maybe I can sell it to Tim. :lol:
