question about Julio Lugo

I'm not trying to be a smartass here.

 

What's so special about Lugo? I read lots of folks on nsbb touting him as a great potential signing.

 

I looked his career numbers over and I just don't see the attraction.

If our lineup is strong with the exception of Izturis, would his glove and smaller salary look more attractive??

I'm thiking along the lines of how long we'd have either player. If Izturis is just a one year guy, maybe we can suffer through him (especially with all the other upgrades).

 

Then there's Hendry's love affair with Izzy. . . .

Izturis makes 4.5 mil a year. He's definitely not worth it.

He's a bad backup SS. Theriot would be almost a lock to outperform him next year. Trade Izturis to anyone stupid enough to take most of his salary, dont worry about what you get for him. Then try to sign Lugo or another decent SS, and if not you can still upgrade by starting Theriot.

He is a better option then Izturis for sure. I would rather see Jim Hendry go after a starting pitchers via free agency or trade right now then sign Lugo though.
