Hairston at 2B and Walker at 1B is ideal depending on the pitcher.

Hee Sop Choi is not the answer

("if Hee Sop Choi is the answer I don't know the question")

Henski's salary makes him someone the team wants to move.

Call FL about Cabrera to find out his status. Miggy can play LF or any other spot when Lee returns.

Mike Sweeny or Mientkiewicz may be available. Sweeny's being paid 25% of the team's salary. They need pitching.

Craig Wilson is a possibility

Hendry would have to pay 150% to get 100%. The solution now is to bring someone up (Restovich).

Aramis has to step up and perform like the hitter he's capable of being

Forgot about Eric Hinske. He'd be an OK pickup. Miggy would be a great pickup, obviously, but I would think the Cubs would have to give up at least 1 of their current ML regulars to make that happen....namely, Murton, Marshall, or Williams.

I'd give up any of those 3...I'd like to keep Murton, but if that's what it took...

I wouldn't give up Murton but they could have both Williams and Marshall as long as the trade took place close to the return of W/P/M.

I wonder where Morrissey gets his rumors?

Take it for what it is worth:

Apr 20 According to The Chicago Tribune's Rick Morrissey, rumors are popping up that the Chicago Cubs could acquire 1B Doug Mientkiewicz from the Kansas City Royals to fill the void left by 1B Derrek Lee (wrist) being out two to three months.

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5775/news

The problem there is that Eyechart can only play 1B.

And he hits like a pitcher.

The obvious benefit to it would be that he's pretty strong defensively.

I think there are better options out there. Gload, Wilson, Clark, Choi, Graffanino...

the present scenerio has Malphabet's production compared to Neifi and/or Hairston. chances are he'll hit better than either one of those two, and provide the defense we have come to rely on at first. he also draws alot of walks.

trading for him is not something I advocate, but it would be an improvement over the situation the Cubs are facing.

Really? I mean...I like Murton a lot too, but I think the chances of him being as good as Cabrera are low enough that the trade would definitely be do-able.

Stats so far for this season...

Cabrera AVG .346 | HR 3 | RBI 11 | OBP .443 | SLG .635

Murton AVG .280 | HR 2 | RBI 9 | OBP .345 | SLG .480

I hear what you're saying but I would work to presuade them against taking him. Anyway, in this example, it was suggested that they would only want one of the three (Murton, Williams, and Marshall). I'm saying I'd be willing to part with the other two to keep Matt.

Most likely, they would insist on one ML player and a number of prospects. Or maybe I'm wrong and perhaps the reported rift between Cabrera and Giaradi makes it easier to get him than would be normally expected. I doubt it. LOL

According to the Royals fans on their MLB board, Sweeney might be on the DL before Lee is off it:

One of the Sweened trade to Cubs threads

And I agree with Hairston at 2nd and TWalk at 1st.

Wow. Prior and a prospect for Sweeney!? Pie and Cedeno?!? Jesus. More delusional than the Cubs.com posters in Royal land...and probably for good reason. One of the few teams close to as frustrating to watch as the Cubs.

I'm still laughing about both of those trade ideas.

Pull the trigger!

Sweeney for Neifi Perez? Just the other day I said things couldn't possibly get worse, maybe Baird wants to prove me wrong.

Wow I hadn't actually read that thread. That's some hilarious stuff. I love that they want MORE than Prior because of his injury woes...LOL

You try to keep your BEST players. I'd rather have Murton AND Cabrera not Cabrera AND Jones. That kind of negates the benifit of adding Cabrera doesn't it? Based on WHO you replace. Just like Replacing Cedeno with Tejada now wouldn't help us much, because Ronny is performing really well!!

Hey, he traded Dye for Perez, why not Sweeney?

Well sure, ideally you'd love to give up nothing and get something, but chances are the Marlins are going to want actual talent back for Miguel Cabrera. I'm simply saying that if Murton is a "must" in order to get Cabrera, I'd be ok with that (of course the rest of the package would have an impact on that as well.)

I"d give up all 3 of them. Miggy is that special of a player.
