  1. One thing I'll give him credit for....by beating out San Diego to get Fukudome, it caused San Diego to press for and get Edmonds....maybe it was just luck, and I'm sure he didn't plan it this way, but his acquisition of Fukudome resulted in our chef division rival getting worse...
  2. The Cards should fire their new GM....Eckstein is at least worth a million more than Isturiz
  3. So who where the two Cubs that Karchner roomed with?
  4. Especially since use acquiring him for the OF (and having 2 OF spots essentially blocked for 4 years) now makes us a prime candidate for having extra outfielders to trade.
  5. So would I. Hell, I've been paying for it and haven't gotten anything for a few weeks. I'd be up for that too..
  6. huh?
  7. okay not exactly but close enough Yeah, except that the idea of the Socratic method is to make the person your teaching feel like they're smarter than you and they're actually doing the teaching. What you're doing seems to come off as a pompus ass who is condecending to everyone else. That's not even close to the Socratic method. Hmm...that seems an awful lot like what passes for the Socratic method at law schools. True it is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socratic_method#Law_school Yes, I know this well. I've become quite familiar over the past 2.5 years. Unfortunatly it doesn't change once you start practicing....its just a different source....Judges, Partners...at the end of the day it never seems to end...(well, maybe once you become a partner and get to turn the tables).... :D
  8. Hey and maybe after school we could go to Arnold's and get a burger and a shake! What do ya say? Golly gee paw...really?! Can we go to Stark's pond and skip stones, too?? You betcha! (Rubs the hair on his head) That OF would be really good defensively. Yes it would....probably the best defensive outfield we've had in 20 years...
  9. Your guess is as good as mine. If the Cubs land Fukudome, I think they will be more willing to trade Pie especially if Colvin is progressing. Hendry keeps saying Pie is untouchable, but I got to believe if Hendry becomes desperate for Brian Roberts, he'll put Pie in that deal. With Pie, Theriot and the pitcher's spot, the lineup has 3 automatic outs (save for Z). Considering his performance at AAA am I the only one that thinks giving Pie the every day job and not jerking him around might ammount to something more than an automatic out?
  10. It's going to be interesting to watch the White Sox on this. They've had a lousy off season thus far coming off a lousy year with an owner, who loves sticking it to the Cubs. I think they're a legitimate threat. I think they're at the point this offseason where they might feel desperate to sign someone, just to try to offset the failed Hunter and Cabrera attempts. They don't normally do 5-year deals, although they offered one to Hunter, so it'll be interesting to see if the Hunter offer was an abberation or a shift in their policy. If the Cubs land Fukudome, do you think Pie becomes trade bait, or will Fukudome play right field? I would hope they give Pie the chance to play center....The defense in the outfield would be pretty sick and allowing a young, cheap, player to develop seems like a good idea...
  11. How funny is it that St. Louis paid basically the same amount of money for Cesar Isturiz. :D
  12. So...the meetings have concluded...about 200 pages of posts were generated...and nothing significant happened for the Cubs...does that about sum it up?
  13. you underestimate the meddling incompetence of peter angelos... Beat me to it. Angelos has a thing for Roberts. I don't see him agreeing to this unless someone persuades him a bit. MacPhail has said that he's kept Angelos up to speed throughout all trade negotiations and that Angelos has not once told him not to do something...
  14. Wasn't he selected in last year's rule 5? Yes. And thats all folks...Rule 5 draft over.
  15. Sandiego Selects 2b Alex Crabby from the Brewers
  16. Phillies select Travis Blackley from the Giants (LHP)
  17. He's had some sort of microfracture surgery so he may get to sit on the IR for while.
  18. Padres select Michael Gardner from the Yankees AAA roster.
  19. Mets pick Steven Register from the Rockies (AA closer)
  20. Ok...now I'm getting a little worried. I wonder if he could be involved in a trade to a team like Baltimore? Why would the Orioles want another crappy reliever? I'm just thinking of teams that could carry a young reliever on their ML roster all year.... Would he have to stick on the ML roster if we traded him to another team? That's my understanding
