  1. I'm about ready to see him on Broadway in pantaloons. I don't get it. Sure he's struggling against righties right now, but how's he going to ever learn if he gets platooned right away? He hasn't even played a full season. Not to mention who would we put out there??? Bynum? Mabry?? No thanks.
  2. What's up. Maddux shure loocs grate toniht! :(
  3. Nice job Roast, although I think you need to add 3 players to the "get out of town list". Pierre, Maddux, and Wood (if he'll wave NTC) all need to go. Maddux needs to go immediately before he kills the whatever trade value he has left, while the Cubs need to pray Pierre and Wood can have a period of decent play to elevate their's. Maddux will be easy to unload but the other two anchors are a big ??????
  4. There is no such thing. yeah there is. OK, example? The homeruns that are hit when the game is hopelessly out of reach, or when the lead is substantial. Sammy (toward the end of his Cub days) had a lot of "meaningless" homers.
  5. This makes me really happy, I really liked what I saw outta Bradley starting with the Preseason. Bradley, Moose, Berrian, Gage, etc. might be enough to hold us over this year. If Bradley can come back similar to the glimpses we saw of him last year, and if Bernard can play just as he did when he came back from injury this team will be just fine in the receiver department. Assuming good health of course. :D
  6. Thank you. It gets tiresome to see threads lambasting Hill for having two pitches only to see posts in the same thread clamoring to get Zito. If he has anything more than his curve and a mediocre fastball I have yet to see it. Although he has displayed much better command than Hill in the bigs (then again who hasn't).
  7. There is no such thing. yeah there is.
  8. I'd want Zito first and foremost, then if you could get Soriano and either Schmidt or Mulder without compromising a long term deal for Z, I think even if the Cubs did nothing else, they'd be a contender next year. I'm afraid Zito will be nothing more than an overpaid BP pitcher in this division. With Wrigley, the new Busch, the Juicebox, and GAB, you have 4 homer friendly parks to left field. Instead of his slow-big benders dying on the track in places like Oakland and Safeco, they'll be several rows deep in these parks. Getting Zito would be a HUGE mistake IMO.
  9. like crap? yeah, sign me up for some more of his steady decline. keeping maddux for another year just b/c they let him go too early in the past is pretty foolish. i think the chances of him getting away from the cubs again and winning 200 games and a bunch of cy youngs is pretty slim at this point. i don't want anything to do w/ him next season unless he's pitching for like 2 mil. That was easy, wasn't it  The only way I want Maddux any where near this team is if he takes over as pitching coach in 2007. However with this teams propensity for retaining less than deserving personal Roth will still be here. And Maddux wil pry still be pitching. :x
  10. I understand how some can be advocating for a platoon based on numbers, but how is Murton suppose to improve (and be able to hit righties) if he doesn't play everyday? Good god, it would be utterly scary if every young player who ever struggled in any facet were to be platooned so swiftly. With our moribund record and the likelyhood of continued futility I hope this team gives Murt every opportunity to prove he can't succeed. With only a thrid of the season gone by that certainly hasn't happened yet.
  11. No he won't, for Z is Superman. If the Cubs can keep him away from kryptonite (aka his computer), keep him hydrated, and teach him how to slide Carlos is unstoppable. I heard he can leap bulidings in a single bound.
  12. That wouldn't matter. Z's so good he could pitch left-handed.
  13. Forget his stuff. I'm almost more giddy at the prospects of finding a pitcher who can actually locate the plate.
  14. It was the last sentence's philosophy that made Corey so bad with the Cubs. Not to mention the fact that he really wasn't that good at it.
  15. Gave up four dingers. If that answers your question.
  16. Cmon Ronny. Though after the first one I have no doubt that would have been called a strike.
  17. Having to sit in the booth day after day this year has got to be one of the worst jobs in sports.
  18. He was out. Barret's been throwing the ball much better to second of late.
  19. Well dude he had good stuff dude. He k'd 5 guys in under four innings so it wasn't his stuff. They were just on tonight. Gotta give them credit dude. Did I mention he had good stuff tonight?
  20. What are you talking about? Didn't you see the appearance where he k'd NINE guys in FOUR innings. Everyone knows that is more important then handing out homers like candy on Halloween. Just ask Dusty.
  21. Get off the field Larry you are just as worthless as Glendon. You've done very little in your 4 years to justify your presence. We've seen many a tooled pitcher flounder under your tutleage. You make me sick.
  22. If Dusty's not happy Len then he shouldn't be happy at himself for starting this POS. 3 smoke and mirror appearances vs. the other 10 where he's been utterly destroyed and Crusty still sees something in him. It's a guaranteed massacre 3 out of every 4 starts, if not 4 of 5.
  23. One of the easiest DP combos in the majors = Walk and ARam.
  24. That might have been a bad calll. Ned another angle though
