Why, can he catch? Gee, I can't fathom why the Cubs would carry an extra catcher to back up and old man and a guy with a bad back for the time being. He's a waste of a roster spot. He can't hit worth a damn, and if the need for a back up-back up catcher arose, we could pick up another 10 of Fedorawhatsit on a moment's notice. Besides, isn't there supposed to be an emergency catcher on every roster? One of the bench guys who could survive a few innings behind the plate in the even that the other two are out of the game? I'm guessing the FO thinks Baez can't frame pitches at all.

The BABIP gods look favorably on their chosen one in this contest. Arrieta gives us 8 innings of 1 hit baseball (no doubt double to Crawford), only 3 Ks, but no walks. Cubs get 13 hits and 7 walks and win 6-0.
