  1. Per Baseball Prospectus, the Cubs lead MLB in defensive efficiency (i.e., turning balls in play into outs). I think Cedeno has quite a bit to do with that.
  2. Jock with the softest out of the inning. BOOO!
  3. That pitch to Aguila started 6 inches off the plate and wound up 2 feet of the plate. Great movement, but how do you swing at a pitch like that? First inning jitters aside (which I missed), Guzman looks impressive.
  4. Thank you Dodgers. It was worth staying up for.
  5. Preston Wilson up with the bases juiced and 1 out. He's struck out 14 out of his last 26 ABs.
  6. Our third pitcher coming in to pinch hit...Odalis Perez.
  7. Ramon Martinez spelled backwards it Zen it ram Nomar. Edit: Yes, I'm tired. Damn you Zen it ram!
  8. Lessee, we've had PH appearances by Oswalt and Brett Tomko. Who's next?
  9. Borkowski has been lights out over 4 innings. He came in with a 6+ career ERA. This one is going 18, isn't it?
  10. I posted this on the game thread. I was thinking about posting it here, but it was just so absurd...
  11. Astros stranding runners left and right. Bases loaded and one out and they still can't score. For a second, I thought I was watching the 2005 Cubs.
  12. That was Borkowski's first ML at-bat.
  13. I'm not touching that one. :o Furcal 0-5 tonight, batting .202 for the year. Serves him right.
  14. With Ensberg on deck. Odd.
  15. Bases juiced for Kent. 3-2 Astros in 9th, 1 out. Edit: Sac fly. Tie game. Another blown save for Lidge. :) Nomah has a chance to be a hero again...but no.
  16. Maybe Nomah can come through again (he's 0 for 4 with 5 LOB tonight).
  17. Come on, this micromanagement is getting ridiculous. Shoulda just let Restovich hit for himself instead of taking Restovich out for Restovich and wasting Restovich. "Being John Restovich" Coming to a theater near you. Nicely played. :)
  18. Thanks. Good thing they didn't have the new guy who likes to beat up nerds sing. ??? Ricky Manning Jr...the new corner the Bears just signed an offer sheet to. He and his posse beat up some guy in a Denny's for being a nerd because he was using a laptop. No, I did not make that up. I heard earlier on The Score that the story has changed and that it wasn't him but one of his friends that confronted the guy. Either way, it was stupid. Yeah, I should have included the word "alledgedly" somewhere in there.

  20. Ha ha, I just came across this. Did you know the Cubs are shopping Greg Maddux? It's from a Met fan site, so it must be true.
  21. That is why they pay Baker the big money, to make calls like that. "[The players] know what I'm doing," Baker said. "I told them in a meeting [saturday] that I have to do some things in this situation that we have here that I might not ordinarily do in order to preserve this or in order to preserve that. Their job is not to like it, necessarily, but their job is to go along with it and understand it. That's part of being the boss."
  22. The question is, can Aramis score from second on a single?
