  1. Leadoff walks to the pitcher are never good.
  2. Looks like he'll be part of the "team of expert analysts"...so probably studio work. Whoops. I wish they'd put him back in the booth, I thought he was great there.
  3. No Harold Reynolds? I thought him and Chip made a good team that one Sunday when they called that Cubs game. Is HR employed by TBS or was that part of the interview process?
  4. you are on the internet, look it up yourself. Have you ever followed along on GameCast? It's not always very clear. I am right now, and it's a lot better than begging other people to give you updates because you don't like how they post on game threads. Begging? LOL. And no, following on GameCast is not as good as following in a game thread when people are actually describing what's going on. Edit: Thank you, cynosure.
  5. I don't want to sound like a dick, but it would be nice if just one person could actually give some sort of description of what happened rather than a bunch of "oh crap", "this sucks", "stupid", "ugh" posts.
  6. I posted it somewhere. Here's the link I posted it has video of a live performance (starts with the 2nd verse). http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2008/4/25/460565/eddie-vedder-doing-someday I can't listen at work, but is the one in the original post a studio version? The live one is awesome, but the quality isn't the best.
  7. How can people not like Harry Caray and Ron Santo? I'm guessing these same people hated Santa Claus as a kid?
  8. You have to win the chance to buy Dodgers tickets though, same thing as with the Cubs. I got an email yesterday or the day before saying I wasn't selected.
  9. So win today, then win either Friday or Saturday (but not both) and hope the Brewers win both of their games... then clinch on Sunday so I can see it in person. That's my ideal scenario.
  10. Wait, what? I must've missed something... when did this come out?
  11. I didn't really think he'd be interested in sticking around longer than his current contract though. I could see him winning the World Series this year and then calling it a career. There's not a better way to go out than leading the Cubs to their first title in a century!
  12. Last night's loss means I won't be glued to the computer this afternoon following pitch by pitch. Cubs, my boss thanks you.
  13. I thought he'd get the start too. If he's not in there tonight, I'm not expecting him in there the rest of the year.
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't teams change their 25 man rosters from series to series?
  15. It does seem random, doesn't it? I'm probably just weird, but I like how they did it in the past because you could slowly piece the whole schedule together rather than just seeing it all unveiled at once. That made for something fun in the offseason.
  16. No Cubs in KC? Damnit. Wait, no Cubs versus KC anywhere? That sucks. I'm sure the Cards will play them 6 times though.
  17. Is Pie really a lock at this point? I mean, I'd put him on the playoff roster but I'm not sure if Lou will. If Marquis pitches well tonight, I've gotta think that he's secured a spot in the bullpen.
  18. True, that's a good point.
  19. I've seen this mentioned a few times now. I wonder if it really matters whether they start or not. Z, Harden, and Dempster have been around long enough for the Mets to know what to expect. With Z, probably not. On the other hand, the Mets roster has a combined 32 PA's against him, with only Delgado, Anderson, and Beltran having seen him for more than 3 PA's. Dempster is a very different pitcher this year in terms of stuff and in terms of what the batter sees with the glove flip. He didn't pitch against the Mets when they came to Wrigley. I just question how big of a difference actually facing a guy makes versus seeing enough evidence on tape to know what he throws, and being briefed by the hitting coach as to when he likes to throw it. It's not like teams go into games blindly; they know what to expect from the opposing pitcher. At least they should.

  21. Well this thread turned weird.
  22. How many times did he say the word "dummy" during that interview?
  23. Seriously. Tickets are what, $0.75 there? You can get in for $7. I think they have dollar hot dog days, or maybe it's dollar beer days.
  24. Milt Pappas is a bitter, bitter old man.
  25. @ CLE @ KC vs. DET @ MIN Were we really @KC? The last time I remember playing them was 2002 and it was at Wrigley. The only other year that we've played the Central since was 2006 and we missed the Royals that year. I'm pretty sure the Cubs have never played in KC, otherwise I would've been there.
