  1. Agreed. I enjoy reading what you write, Bruce.
  2. A la Fred McGriff in 2001, it's conceivable that Wilson might ask for an extra year to be added to his contract in order to accept the deal. He should just be happy that he's going to a team with a chance to compete and not worry about more millions. At this point in his career, you'd think that winning would be the priority, not money. Maybe not though.
  3. Zambrano is going to dominate tonight.
  4. Personally, I think that if he refuses to play them, he'll be gone by the end of the month.
  5. Players who have a no trade clause DO have the option of waiving it, ya know. I don't understand why people keep bringing it up as if Wood's no trade clause meant that he wont consider waiving it.
  6. Oh I absolutely think it is him taking charge. Dusty is close to being gone.
  7. I think that this is Hendry's way of saying "screw you Dusty, we're gonna do things my way now."
  8. BBTN just reported that Patterson has in fact been sent down. No word on who was called up to replace him though.
  9. I'm so pissed off right now. I'm gonna go jog off some steam. You guys try and have a good night
  10. Your new favorite team is a team that's just one game better than the Cubs?? I've liked the A's for a while now. And I liked them even when they were horrible and the Cubs were pretending to be good earlier this year. They're just a lot more fun to watch. PLus, with the exception of some suspect usage patterns for Ricardo Rincon, they don't do amazing stupid things for no reason over and over again. It's quite refreshing. The A's will likely miss the playoffs, yes, but I really enjoy watching them play. I can't say the same thing for the Cubs. Gotcha. I'm a big Billy Beane fan, so I like the A's too.

  12. *sigh* What part of "Neifi is literally the worst leadoff hitter in the league" does Dusty not understand?
  13. I have two tickets to the Saturday afternoon game of the series later this month in Busch that I need to sell. They are section 593 (bleachers) row 28, seats one and two. Yes, row 28, as in 28 rows back from the field... but these seats are in the shade, and the shade is where you want to be in St. Louis in July. I figured I'd offer these to you guys before I put them up on ebay, so if anyone wants them, let me know. And I'm not looking to make a profit, just to get face value for them - 42 bucks for the pair.
  14. Let's hope your prediction comes true. I for one would celebrate if that happened. There's the post of the year. Hoping for a Cub loss. I hate Perez, but I don't hope he goes 3 for 55 just so he might sit. Hoping for a loss is just as bad as players quitting. I'd sacrifice one game if it meant that Dusty would be fired, you bet. I'm sure most of the posters on this board would as well. So, you've given up on the wild-card? I haven't. But I know we can't throw away one-loss if we still have the wild-card in our minds. Now if you've given up on the season, then one loss doesn't matter. Where did I say that? How could you have possibly come to that conclusion? No, I'm not giving up on the season. But if you told me that a Cubs loss tonight would lead to Dusty Baker being fired, I would hope for a Cubs loss. That doesn't mean that I'm giving up. On the contrary, that means that I still have hope. In regards to your previous post to me... no, Dusty's not the only problem. But he is the biggest problem. He keeps putting guys in positions to fail. Neifi leading off, Remlinger facing lefties, etc. Get a guy who knows his player's abilities and this team will be so much better.
  15. Can Dick Pole possibly be a worse manager than Dusty? Hell, can anyone for that matter? He is terrible at gametime decisions and he is terrible at managing his players... what is it that he IS good at? And there are better options out there. Just a couple days ago, there was an article in a Philly newspaper quoting Jim Leyland saying that he wanted the job of Phillies manager this year... I'm sure Chicago would interest him as well.
  16. no....we can hope all we want but hendry would never do it midseason with that much money left on his contract If we're paying Sammy 12 million to not play for us, then we can pay Dusty however much he is owed to not manage for us. How much is he slated to make next year, by the way?
