You have to feel bad for Hawkins. He grew up a Cubs fan and all he wanted to do was pitch for the Cubs and succeed. Blame whoever you want for his failure, but the fact is that he needed a change of scenery. I feel bad that the guy can't even return to his home area and pitch without the stadium chanting "Hawkins sucks" while he pitches. That's just terrible. Now... with that said, if chanting that gets into his head and causes him to lose focus and helps the Cubs in any way, then I'm all for it because the goal is for the Cubs to win games, not for players to be happy pitching against us. I just wish it never would have come to this.
