  1. Oh man, don't get me started on that. They are by far, the worst broadcasting crew I could have possibly gone through. And all those annoying interviews with so many people (Slater, anyone?) it's highly annoying, and the fact that they aren't even paying any attention to the freaking game! And why is that ESPN has to have to put in too many people on a single football game? Egos or what? Whatever it is, that junk needs to be cleaned up. If I bought ESPN, I know exactly what needs to be changed, and it's long overdue.
  2. Would be nice if MLB had a salary cap.
  3. Royals management fires back about the comment Ricciardi made towards Meche, especially Buddy Bell. http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/baseball/mlb/kansas_city_royals/16199527.htm
  4. I believe you're thinking of Juan Uribe I am thinking you're probably correct.
  5. Didn't he used to play for the Indians or the White Sox awhile back?
  6. Long time no see Outshined! :D Honestly, 19 out of 20 seasons where his batting average was over .300, and that's pretty darned impressive. Let's take Ty Cobb for example here, he hit over .300 for 24 consecutive seasons. Even in the era of weak pitching we have today, no one will ever do that again. It's not like he had some inflated OBP built from intentional walks, people pitching around him, lineup protection, or places where the foul pole is 300 feet away. He worked in an era when baseball was played in cavernous places and where a high home run total was 10. I think Gywnn should be able to get in on the first try.
  7. Really? Berroa and LaRue are black holes, Grudz isn't any good, Sweeney's coming off a subpar half season, Brown's a platoon player, and Gordon doesn't have a single MLB at bat. It's not a lock to be terrible, but it's nothing admirable really. Not sure how you could possibly say that, considering that he has done a pretty solid job for the Royals. I know that his OBP and OPS isn't glamourus, but it's sure a heck alot better than Neifi Perez when he was in KC. Looking at his stats, it seems that he is going to provide the Royals .290/.330/.400 type of numbers, and there's no reason not to believe that he'll won't put up those numbers this year. I think the organization value Grudz as more of a defensive player. His 2006 defensive numbers. 2B - 132 games, committed 4 errors for a .994 fielding percentage. SS - 4 games, committed 0 errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage. There is one thing I do agree with you TT, Berroa is terrible.
  8. Well, the way the years past has played out, where the Cubs has traditionally played horribly, other than 2003. I don't think it's too hard to figure it out, especially signing players that are not quality players, and also non-productive players. I do feel that the Cubs are the least efficent run organization, based on the moves that deemed uncessary, and that the Cubs don't make the right proper necessary moves to make the team better.
  9. When was Tampa Bay good in the first place? I dont remember them being worth a hoot since their creation. Heh, I'm wondering the same thing.
  10. I really like this signing, Dotel appears to be healthy. Dayton said he looked great, the Red Sox also scouted him the other night in winter ball.... and were very impressed, so he looks okay. His stuff is filthy, and I've always liked the idea of having a veteran closer. I always thought we should've done that years ago, put a veteran closer in so guys like MacDougal, Burgos, and now probably Ryan Braun can work their way in being a setup man.
  11. Well, it's been awhile for me... you fellas know me, Cubs fan, but also a local KC fan, been off-line due to the phone not working on NSBB as posting, so I been lurking. Finally, got the internet at home. As for the Royals getting Meche, Dotel, and Bale, some people are wondering why blow money on guys like this when they are more than a player away. Take Meche for example, even at 5.31, he's a full 2 points lower than most of the pitchers the Royals send to the mound.
  12. Ahh... good times.... Would do anything to go like that again, and actually making it to a WS. Darned Marlins.
  13. I know I'm a little late, but thank goodness. No more Neifi.
  14. Hmm.. well my Motorola phone isn't exactly firefox, since it's Internet explorer browser. I don't think that it will work that way. Is there anything like that addons that would work for internet explorer? Not to my knowledge. Well, that's a bummer for me then, since I relocated to Overland Park, and that my only source of internet connection is from my phone. It's a good phone and all, just really sucks when I want to reply to a certain topic/discussion, only to find out that it won't work on the reply post. That's pretty much why I'm not around here as much as I would had liked to be. Oh well, someday soon I'll be able to get the internet back on a computer, and all will be well.
  15. Hmm.. well my Motorola phone isn't exactly firefox, since it's Internet explorer browser. I don't think that it will work that way. Is there anything like that addons that would work for internet explorer?
  16. Yeah, I know what you mean, but that usually reqiures another browser, and since I am not online much anymore, becuase I don't have internet (I moved to Overland Park) and the only internet access I can get is from my phone, which is a Motorola Q. It's a good phone and all, just can't have 2 different browsers open, you know? Another thing is that, I can view this board and all, just fine on my phone, but when I want to do the "topic reply" or a "new topic" and I go to this message body, to type in, and I click on submit, for some reason, my phone doesn't submit it, just pretty much takes me right back into the message body, where I just typed in what I need to say. I'm not sure why it does that, but one I think is that the board is a php, since I am a Administrator on http://www.ksufootball.com and it has the same problem. And I think that my phone wouldn't work on that issue (Probably frames or something), so the only way that it worked perfectly for me over there is that I been using the fast reply option, so that's part of another reason why I wondered if there is a good chance that the fast reply option could be instilled on this board.
  17. I'm curious to wonder if there is a way that this board can have a fast reply option? I think it would make a good addition to the board for a quick response instead of having to click on the "post reply" button.
  18. I expect Jim Hendry to tell the serious truth, especially the fact that the Cubs have lost 19 out of 23 games. I would bet you that if it was George Steinbrenner as the owner for the Cubs, Baker would have been canned just right about now. Dusty have been given way too many oppiturnies. Dare I say it, that Dusty will more than likely have plenty of options to make this ballclub look bad as the Kansas City Royals.
  19. And may I ask why you think of that?
  20. Nice. I usually go by C = Completely U = Useless B = By S = September
  21. Heh. For whatever it's worth, if the Cubs somehow win this game, I won't be able to start the next thread, at least not until sometime after 8:00 p.m. Central Time. I'll eventually get it up, but if it gets past 9:00p.m. CST, then somebody is more than welcome to at least spot-start for me. Thanks, Coach C
  22. It could be that Wood was having command problems, so I'm guessing maybe that he's taking the conserative approach, and try to find his grove. Just my guess.
  23. Wow, what a change of a month it is. At April, the Cubs Suckage meter was here. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/SwedeCarlson/Funnies/suckage1.jpg Currently, their suckage is completely full, and on the brink of breaking the suckage meter. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/SwedeCarlson/Funnies/suckage2.jpg I'm getting a bit tired of the Cubs doing this. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/SwedeCarlson/Funnies/white_flag.gif So here's a message from Uncle Sam, to the Chicago Cubs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v39/SwedeCarlson/Funnies/stop_sucking.jpg Win.
  24. I like Speier. When was the last time that Speier goofed up? I couldn't honestly tell you, unlike the days of "Wavin" Wendell.
  25. The only thing I am worried about is the fact that the Cubs could potentionally give Baker another 2 year deal or something like that. Then the Cubs will go on to make excuses such as, "Well, Derrek Lee wasn't healthy" or along the lines like that.
