i wouldn't trade castro for felix just for the 1 in the hand idea. while either player could get hurt in arizona this march, it'd be not easy, but easier to swallow if it were the player you have had, rather than bringing in the new car then wrecking it pulling out of the lot. obviously not the most logic based idea, but i think the two are fairly similar value wise, at least in that castro's ceiling is as high as felix's right now, though felix will soon be on his way down as castro is on his way up. being that while the club could compete for the division next year, that it's more likely to be in 13 or 14 when the team is blossoming as fully epstein & co implemented, castro and his current cost control status serves that purpose better. all that said i would give whatever package of minor league players to seattle for hernandez that the mariners asked for. tim's point about absorbing the 40 man roster hit would also mean that they'd need low lever players not in risk of rule 5 steals, and things like that, and those guys are pure ceiling, which is more like 2 in the bush with hernandez v maybe there's a bush over there with low level spects. it'd be awesome. and yeah, i think with a bounce back by dempster and a return of cashner, along with garza, that that is a rotation that can compete with any in the national league, phillies included.
