  1. The Giants' idea of "going young". With Sandoval at first and the other kid at third, they'd have a legit infield if Renteria rebounded.
  2. If this were to become true, however, in what way would this effect the Cubs draft pick comp wise if the Giants went out and signed Howry?
  3. wouldn't lee make sense for the yankees? i know they just got swisher, and that would make another hole to fill, but...
  4. Odds I'm still a Cubs fan at that point: 100% 100% for me. This applies to the rest of my natural life. Personally, I don't have time for even a hint of fairweather. To each their own. If you guys still enjoy it, do it. But there's a point where it's just not fun anymore, and these guys are getting close to it for me. I can handle a couple first-round losses. But, as always with the Cubs, the losing has to be stretched to the point of absurdity. They can't just lose three straight, it has to be by a combined score of 20-6. They have to almost have more errors than runs. It has to be 9 straight lost playoff games by a combined score of 57-18. It has to be another year of "If they don't win it all none of it matters" talk. It has to be another year of every single time the Cubs are broadcast on national TV seeing the Bartman play 10 times and hearing the phrase "101 years" 35 times. Good, go. But, don't come back when we do win it all. Which we will. As a stat guy you have to think it is pretty good that we are getting back at a much better rate to the playoffs than we ever have. We will break through at some point. You do realize that's the same thing you, your dad, and your grandfather have said, right? You all should be very empathetic towards the helplessness of the victims of abusive relationships.

Fairweather has nothing to do with it. I am not switching teams, because I couldn't root for any other team. I just can not watch this over and over again while having so much emotionally invested. It's just dumb. Why would I purposefully put myself through something like that? And pay hard earned cash for tickets and merch and cable to watch ( I would not have cable except for baseball). There are simply much more interesting things that could positively effect myself and the world around me with the time i spend watching baseball, reading about baseball, playing fantasy baseball or video games. I always shrugged off Noam Chomsky's argument about sports, but he is very correct. Have fun 09 and beyond! Hopefully it does more for you all in the future than it has in the past.
  6. why are we blowing them, exactly? i thought the term was to run (x) out of town.
  7. what is this thread, viral advertisement? got to be kidding.
  8. Cubs 09: "Sliders low and away" "How will we Fake Rally this time?" it's going to be 04 ugly next year. have fun!
  9. if we are going to go crazy, at least we can all become absurdists. i mean, is that not what being a cubs fan is all about? whatever. i'm done here. 95% of you are elitist jerks anyhow.

  25. everything has gone the cubs way this year. huge comebacks, great seasons by players who should be subs, a rip off trade... the cubs were able to rest zambrano and harden midseason. the cubs EVEN HAD THE ABILITY TO PLAY WHO THEY WANTED IN THE FIRST ROUND. all that and then this. i have a dying grandfather and this is what i subject myself to? eff that. die cubs. just die.
