  1. he is sooo awful. it's awkward between he and santo, and after a couple months early on of sirrot being more timid he started doing this weird, fake laugh thing at whatever ron would say. he interrupts conversation for every single pitch, and his calls are so chip carey over the top these last couple months. his line of questioning, too, ugh. "who was your first roommate when you were in the big leagues ron? got any good stories?" ron just kind of shrugs him off. you can tell he's prepared and is eager to please, but man, just be yourself.
  2. Anybody know where i can find a quick list of all players called up by team? Thanks
  3. Because they're not paid to provide insight, they're paid to make people read, even if they're angry readers. Best course of action would be to pay as little attention as possible to it. This is the correct answer. i mean, it ended up on nsbb. as much as everyone thinks he's a moron he's apparently good at his job.
  4. why do they play aaron miles so consistently? it baffles me. if he doesn't start he is one of the first pinch hitters chosen. blows my mind.
  5. why do we need to care what the neighborhood thinks at all? the neighborhood is nothing without wrigley.
  6. To be fair, Mantle was stashing airplane bottles of Jim Beam in his baggy pants.
  7. the tone of the players in that article suggests to me that they've checked out for this year.
  8. Pads really haven't been that bad lately. Gonzalez is finally coming around again, too.
  9. If he takes arbitration, great. If not, great. I mean, he's a 6 inning pitcher for the most part. Cashner can do that.
  10. Before Lou got hired I remember Sandberg politic-ing pretty hard for the job. Hendry told him if he wants to be a big league manager to go to Peoria, and work his way up, and earn the spot. So that's what he's doing. I fear the day he gets hired. I played second base and had a haircut similar to his as a kid b/c that's who i wanted to be like when i grew up. I just think his personality... something about it would end up getting ugly before too long, like i imagine he'd throw people under the bus, or just that he'd show little tact. By itself that's bad enough, but add that to giving up outs...
  11. If the 2008 was a better team than 2007, how, exactly, has it gotten "progressively worse"?
  12. i mean, we have to eventually hit on the 'big, atheletic, toolsy player' we draft high, right? edit: i mean Jackson
  13. Better thank Fukudome-Bradley 1-2? yes, i would like that even better.
  14. i would just like to take this moment to go out of my way to say that i really like having theriot/bradley 1-2 in the lineup.
  15. The return of Glenallen Hill. If one could place bets as to when the scoreboard will be hit for the first time by a homerun, this game will be as good as any. Not really. Should i have used green? Get a life
  16. Based on what? A few pinch hit at bats in the last 2 series. He hit 2 bombs in Florida not too long ago. 1/11 2 1 1 0 .091 by recently i was talking about the last week.

  18. it's not like fox is hitting the crap out of the ball recently, either.
  19. Born: Feb 18, 1981 - Coffee, AL Alabama is certainly not a hispanic country.
  20. Significant in "your" opinion? Look dude - if you want to dance a jig because you have Kevin Gregg as your closer - have at it. He doesn't have the talent to get enough outs in the last inning. But you keep hoping ... and it will happen. Try again? To argue the value of Kevin Gregg? Thats time well spent. You're funny. laughing irl x2
  21. Sure, but so did the fact that he was the starting ASG catcher, and had terrific numbers for a his position. Who was his closest competition? Joey Votto Yeah, Votto actually had slightly better numbers than Soto last year, but Soto put the numbers up at a typically offensive starved position where his numbers were some of the best in the majors whereas Votto's were par for the course at his position. That played a lot into it. If you go solely off numbers, Votto would've had Soto beat, but factor in defense and position and Soto was a no brainer I think you are giving the vast majority of people that vote on these sorts of things far too much credit
  22. actually, during the espn sportscenter updats after his last start they said something about him making a case for ROY. national radio
  23. it's getting very hard to not be optimistic about the kid. This is his second time around, now, and he's still shutting hitters down.
