  1. 3-1 count on Marshall, runners at 1st and 2nd with 1 out. He gets the bunt down, runners to 2nd and 3rd for Soriano.
  2. My brother is at the game tonight so he better be a good luck charm for the Cubbies.
  3. i seem to have different standards than most people on this board. Yeah, that seems to be a bit low of a bar to set for happiness to me as well. Merely playing meaningful games in August is, well, meaningless. To me, at least. exactly...who cares if they are in the hunt if they don't make it...seriously...i would much rather have my teams suck then make a mad dash at the finish line and then fall on their faces...that SUCKS btw...we lost to a muppet tonight...a FREAKIN MUPPET i am jaded at the moment So would you have rather seen the Cubs miss the playoffs in 2003 as opposed to what actually happened? Just curious to see your response. I think what he's saying is that he'd rather they suck than have a 2004, not a 2003. I see what you are saying. Or a 2001 for that matter. I'm not saying I enjoyed the endings to the 2001 or 2004 seasons but flashing back to August of either season when hope was still there......I'm just saying I'd rather have that feeling when the calender turns over to August 1st as opposed to........trying to get excited over NFL preseason games and losing all interest in baseball. Yes it's a low standard that is why I called it my MINIMUM expectation but around here I guess people want to turn that into me being one of "those people" who don't expect enough? That is basically what it feels like. No problems, I've said my piece. :?

  5. i seem to have different standards than most people on this board. Yeah, that seems to be a bit low of a bar to set for happiness to me as well. Merely playing meaningful games in August is, well, meaningless. To me, at least. I said it's my MINIMUM bar of expectation. I didn't say it's the be all and end all standard that I set. With all the 90 loss seasons I've endured in the last 20 years, yes I appreciate seeing the team actually contend into August. It beats playing to try and avoid 90 losses. Making the playoffs is the ultimate goal for me, but being in contention is the minimum goal. That's just the way I look at things.
  6. Seems like I should be excited about watching a game where a guy is one longball from tying Aaron's record but I'm really not. :?
  7. No matter what happens this weekend, the Cubs will be playing meaningful games in August and that is one of the minimum things I ask for every season. Be in the race in August so I can stay excited about baseball instead of entertaining myself with NFL preseason games. The Saturday game is huge now, beating Harang would set the Cubs up nicely for a series win with Big Z pitching on Sunday but it won't be easy beating the Harangatang.
  8. yeah, all momentum is gone.....he should have slid that throw was going to be high....might as well put pressure on the catcher to catch it and apply a tag instead of running into him there  All momentum gone? Well I'd say rallying to keep the game alive is still worth something here.
  9. Haha way to bail out on that pitch!
  10. Kendall actually hit the ball to the outfield.
  11. Runs are nice. Yeesh if they lose this game 2-1 then I'm going to be a little cranky.
  12. Crappy game but a series win combined with the Brewers 3 of 4 loss to Cincy works for me. 8-) Cubs just need to keep winning series and the rest will fall into place. That and add a bat and an arm before the deadline.
  13. Nah just walk them loaded for Pujols. :x
  14. Bonds walkoff HR here? That or a strikeout.
  15. Man what a crazy 9th inning in San Fran!
  16. Yeah, I was a little dismayed with his handling of the bullpen earlier in the year but he has been pretty spot-on with his decision making lately. I have no complaints other than I wish I would have been more patient with him in the beginning. Seems like he has gotten a better grasp on what he has to work with.
  17. A lot of people seem to be noticing in the last page or two.  But naturally the praise for a perceived well managed game is always drowned out by bad noise when the moves don't work. Definitely happy to have Lou on our side.
