  1. Would you rather go on for 10 pages of alternating "But guys who did X like he did turned out awesome and that's the comparison that matters" and "No, guys who did Y like he did turned out awful and that's the comparison that matters"?
  2. I mean, I'm not going to get bogged down into some argument about the unquantifiable odds that Soler busts out and the subjective standards of when those odds would be worry-worthy. If he keeps having a 38% whiff rate on his swings and a 36% K-rate, he'll be out of the league in a year or two. If he adjusts and starts making contact again, he'll be awesome again.
  3. Soler is making me nervous. Again: [expletive] Baez. Baez didn't invent brettjacksoning your way out of the league.
  4. The problem with the "young players struggling isn't uncommon" meme is that "young players failing permanently" also isn't uncommon. *yawn* *shrug*
  5. The problem with the "young players struggling isn't uncommon" meme is that "young players failing permanently" also isn't uncommon.
  6. That .734 OPS comes on the back of a .412 BABIP, too. He's performing more like a .680 OPS hitter. I'm not freaking out, but I've got an eyebrow of slight concern raised.
  7. Soler is making me nervous.
  8. Because Harry's time was fun and it's over and time to move on. The last thing Wrigley needs is more gazing dreamily at the past.
  9. I'm pretty sure Pace thinks that fixing the coaching staff is more integral to fixing the defense than the personnel. We'll find out how right he is, but I think the idea has some merit.
  10. Or just outs that happen sometimes when you do these things. Doesn't have to be either of those things. I tend to think it's helped us more than it hurt us this year, but we've been getting lucky and in the long run we're going to run into way too many outs if we don't stop.
  11. Lester without a .400+ BABIP against is pretty good.
  12. If I'm adding it up right, the Cubs have moved into the MLB lead for OOB+CS
  13. I don't know enough to have really strong opinions, but that doesn't sound like something I want them to do.
  14. I thought you were talking about our Kyle and I spent a good minute thinking of how we were going to break the terrible news to you. Most of the problem areas are in the upper half.
  15. I'm not betting money against the Cubs. That's not fun.
  16. I'll take it because even without Wainwright I don't think we're a better baseball team than they are.
  17. i'm still not going to subject myself to rooting against the cardinals. i think the cubs are better, but the cardinals will just annoy you and win 90+ games anyways I'm way more focused on the potential wild card rivals than the Cardinals.
  18. Kyle Hendricks can't throw strikes but gets Ks, Kris Bryant has a huge OBP but no dongers, up is down, cats live with dogs.
