And if the rumor that Wood smashed the boom box is true, Sosa has provided the Cubs much more value per contract than Wood ever did. I think it says a lot more about the character of the one doing the smashing than the owner of said boombox.
Amen. I'd be ticked off beyond belief if the Cubs put winning a spring training game vs anyone above preparing players for the season. Fortunately, I think Lou has the end game in mind. I know Lou has the end game in mind. While I'd love to win this game, it matters little in the grand scheme of things.
Wood is a bullpen pitcher. His injury is now no more news than if Howry or Eyre had a slight forearm injury. We should be more worried that Wuertz has been limited in action than we should be in Wood.
At this point, it's a battle between Perez and Cedeno. Of course, the Cubs could make a deal late. I'm sure you guys remember they got Freddie Bynum at the end of spring last year. You do remember, right? :D how could I forget fast Freddie?
I surely hope Sandberg becomes a valuable addition to the Cubs organization. As my favorite player when I was younger, seeing him succeed is nice. But right now, I'm fairly certain I don't want him managing the Cubs ever unless he changes some of his thinking.
I agree with this wholeheatedly. I also think this is why he hasn't been reinstated. I'm pretty sure that Selig likely offered to reinstate him with a tacit agreement that Rose not seek employment with baseball. Judging from Rose's comments, I'm certain Pete wasn't willing to compromise and that has kept him out of the HOF as well.
