  1. If the Rangers go into full sale mode, they'll move Lofton for whatever they can get. The Rangers might do a Pagan + Eyre for Lofton. I would see if Lofton could be had in a deal where we dump either Eyre or Jones and add a prospect to the deal. Jake Fox + Jones for Lofton might be a good deal. Fox would have a better shot going to an AL team.
  2. I'm shocked. I thought for certain I'd lose to Pinghitter. Wow!
  3. Are there any rumblings that Vitters will be a hard sign? Does he have a college commitment and how strong is that?
  4. If Brenly leaves, I suggest Kelly Pickler to take his spot.
  5. They have zero use for Izturis, but Eyre could be interesting. I wonder if Eyre/Jones/prospect could get us Gagne/Lofton? That would interest me greatly. Lofton maybe....but no way they throw two of their chips into that deal. In fact, Eyre-Jones wouldn't get you in the bidding for Gagne.
  6. Considering how bad Floyd is defensively in right, dealing for Dunn might upgrade our defense. For someone that has such a man-crush on Dunn, you are either extremely myopic, or you just don't watch the ballgames. Dunn is the WORST defensive outfielder I've seen in a long time. A one-legged Cliff Floyd is still a superior defender to Dunn on his best day. And Dunn is a one-dimensional zero with declining peripherals. Total yuck. Now, you want to talk Junior, I'm on board with that idea. And I love the Marshall + Murton idea. But enough of the Adam Dunn lust, I want no part of him. I do watch enough games to know that Dunn gets to balls a lot quicker than Floyd who runs like my grandma. Dunn's line this year: 259/349/549. He's also added 7 SB this season to go with his 23 HR. Dunn is not good defensively, but neither is Floyd. Both are bad in RF. Dunn would be no worse than Floyd. If you've watched Floyd gimp after balls for the past month, I don't see how you can conclude otherwise. By the way, other than Cubs v Reds, how many Reds games have you watched this year?
  7. I'm not sure there will be a lot of impact players to be had. Dunn may be traded. Griffey might as well. Who? might be shipped somewhere. Teixeira...maybe? I just don't see a lot of impact guys going anywhere. There might be some marginal guys or guys with question marks moving. I could see Lofton or Sosa traded. Omar Vizquel could be moved. Maybe Brad Ausmus. There's just not a lot of impact guys having impact quality seasons that are in their walk year. That in itself will limit what we have to acquire.
  8. Based on his father's post (especially the use of the lol icon) I'd assume it's a callup rather than a trade. Agreed. I guess Mr. Gallagher decided this time he should wait until the Cubs make the corresponding roster move before letting the cat out of the bag.
  9. I think we may have a record setter in backtracking, crawfishing, and waffling from one extreme to the other. And if I'm proven wrong, I was just joking.
  10. Sold. And where would Dunn play? Please don't say RF. And please don't say move Soriano to RF for Dunn in LF. So basically don't say anything. kthxbye. I doubt Dunn would be any worse defensively than Floyd has been in right. Floyd is brutal out there.
  11. Anyone longing for Carter lamenting Delino being stuck in the a-hole.
  12. Considering how bad Floyd is defensively in right, dealing for Dunn might upgrade our defense.
  13. Depending on the cost, sure. Pie is struggling and likely can't be counted on down the stretch. Lofton would give us a veteran CF that still has some value. If the Rangers will take a mid-level prospect or someone like Izturis or Eyre for him, then yes.
  14. Jay Bruce is awesome. He was 2-3 with a walk. He hit a double that was a line shot to straight CF and hit the top of the wall which reads 402 ft. Even his out was hard hit. Also, I got two balls signed by him before the game! :)
  15. With RISP, Dunn has an 882 OPS. In 2 out, RISP Dunn has an 842 OPS. Sandwich him between Ramirez and Lee, and I don't think this team has much problem scoring runs.
  16. Ok, the wife got off work in time and she switched her schedule for tomorrow so that she doesn't go in to work until 11 instead of seven, so we're going. Jay Bruce, fireworks, and the Braves auctioning off special 4th of July jerseys. Should be fun.
  17. If we did get Dunn and Valentin, I'd probably make the line-up: LF Soriano SS Theriot 3b Ramirez RF Dunn 1b Lee 2b Fontenot/Derosa CF Pagan/Pie C Valentin
  18. I'd take Griffey as well. It's no secret that I love Dunn. Either of those players in RF would look good on the Cubs down the stretch. Furthermore, I'd much rather have Valentin behind the dish than the two inept bozos we've been running out there.
  19. I don't know if I'm worried or not since he really isn't playing.
  20. Jay Bruce > nephew's all-star game. Where are your priorities, Vance? We're talking about a top-3 prospect in all of baseball. Well, if my nephew makes it to the finals on Monday, I won't be there because I have row one tickets down the third base line for the SL All-Star game.
