  1. With just over a month to go, Marquis: 106 Looper: 92. Looper has closed the gap some, but Marquis still has a sizable lead.
  2. I thought the Cubs would take 2 of three a couple of weeks ago, and I stand by that. A sweep would be very nice, however!
  3. Ann Ladd may agree with you. Haha, yeah. Well my incident wasn't quite as serious. I just remember being about 14 years old or so and Uecker refusing to sign autographs for little kids and just really being kinda mean. No big deal I guess, I just thought it was odd that an announcer couldn't take 2 minutes for the 5 people who knew who he was. Maybe it was a bad day. Interesting. That's almost opposite the experience that I had, in terms of his attitude. Though I didn't ask him for an autograph (not really my thing, I have like two of them, one being of Scott Servais (lol)), he was rather engaging and took time out to talk to me. Too bad about your experience, I wonder which of ours is more emblematic of his attitude overall. As most of you know, I have quite a collection of autographs. I think it is sometimes hard to determine the personality of the player or announcer in this case from just one encounter. I've seen guys blow off three people one day and then stop and sign for twenty the next all the while being engaging and personable. Of course, I've encountered the ones who seem to always come off as onery and mean, but I think like everyone, they have good days and bad.

  5. So, far Bruce Miles' prediction still has a chance!
  6. Well, Uecker has been doing it that way for years. I think it's a great way for him to handle it. However, given the race we're in, I don't think it was bad for the fans to boo him. I love Uecker and he's a great ambassador for baseball, but maybe from now on the Cubs should only ask people willing to do say "Cubbies!" to sing.
  7. closer than Monroe, LA That is true...but the rules stipulated that we'd be responsible for our own travel. way to crap on a perfectly good conspiracy theory Yeah, though I don't doubt that location figured into a lot of people's votes. And as much as I wanted it, it probably is best that the person who does ultimately win be from the Chicago area. Well Vance, guess you had better move to Chicago. When I retire, I plan on it.
  8. At this point, I doubt there will be.
  9. don't count on it. I'm not. I've learned the Cubs rarely make the same personnel decisions that I would.
  10. no. The way he looked at the plate tonight, I have to disagree. His timing seemed off. I think a few games in the minors might have helped.
  11. The Cubs hitters need to be patient against Sheets, even if he's throwing strikes. Getting him out early due to pitch counts could be huge, because the Brewers pen is very hittable.
  12. I just hope the Astros can win just one game this series. It's probably too much to ask, because the Astros suck donkey.
  13. I'm appreciating all that Jacque has done, but I do hope we trade him this offseason and sign Fukudome.
  14. Anyone think Soriano should have gone on a rehab assignment before being activated?
  15. My guess it will be Gallagher, Petrick, Ohman, Fox, Cedeno, and Soto.

  17. Please let the good Zambrano show up tonight. Also, as much as I like Sheets, I hope he lays a big steamer tonight.
  18. I'm always up for some JJ loving! http://www.alexrudloff.com/media/2007/01/dynomite.jpg

  20. With the way things are going, those five remaining games with the Cardinals are going to be the make or break ones.
  21. Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Huge win! Awesome! Go Cubs!
  22. Please make this quick and easy, Dempster.
  23. Wow...this game has been just wow. I'd love to add an insurance run here.
