    This topic has been beaten to death so many times, it's comical. The Cubs never had Hamilton and never had any intention of having him. They sold their rule 5 pick to the Reds. All accounts are they had no idea who the Reds wanted. The Reds gave them the name moments before they made the pick. Hamilton is an amazing talent, but at the time last year he had only a few at bats at single A in which he had a 687 OPS. The Reds were in a position to take the gamble, the Cubs were not.

    I'm pretty sure SD would want Cedeno in any deal for Greene. And that's probably ok since we couldn't option Ronny anyway. Cedeno + Fuld + Marquis along with enough cash to even out the salaries between Marquis and Greene. That's probably not going to get it done, but it might be worth offering.

    It looks like the Cubs will miss Oswalt for the series following the break. Link. Based on that, the pitching match-ups for the Astros series should be.. Lilly vs Moehler Zambrano vs Wandy Dempster vs Backe I like our chances in that series.

    I'd offer Cedeno and another prospect for Greene. It would be nice if we could pawn Marquis off in the deal as well. Cedeno + Marquis + Atkins or something along those lines for him.

    Josh Hamilton has picked his old American Legion coach who is 71 years old to pitch to him in the derby. I like this player more every day.

    If we got him, it probably wouldn't be to supplant Theriot. He could replace Cedeno as the back-up SS. Greene also would be a player who you wouldn't feel worried about sitting Theriot for on occasion and you could use as a late inning defensive replacement without worrying about giving up offense.
