  1. Based on Bradley's behavior so far in Seattle and Byrd's early performance, I'm starting to like the Bradley/Silva trade a bit more everyday. I do hope that Bradley eventually settles down and learns some maturity. The past year of so, his antics have overshadowed his baseball abilities, which were above average at some point.
  2. Not a big deal, just a sign of ignorance. I was pointing out an error, so he could learn and improve. He tried to defend it, I responded. Edit: Mineaswell move on, their are bigger issues Fair enough.
  3. You realize there is something called a mental age and Bradley is literally still a 10-year old temper tantrum prone kid in that respect. The word you should have used is "figuratively". It's ok to admit mistakes. I didn't make a mistake you just took it wrong. It's obvious he is physically not a 10-year old anymore making it pretty obvious what I was talking about his mental age. Sorry next time I'll explain it clear as day so you don't get confused. A) Still used the word incorrectly. B) I'd like to know what file you saw that diagnosed his "mental age". I am guessing Pelosi asked you not to reveal that though. Why is it such a big deal if he used figuratively incorrectly? Any person reading his post can figure out what he was trying to say.
  4. Any word on how the surgery has impacted his arm? Was the type of shoulder surgery that he had easier to recover from? I know that Lilly didn't rely on a great fastball in the first place, but has the surgery affected his ability to throw that big curve? I'm all for the old Ted Lilly coming back, but if he is off at all, I'd prefer he stayed in the minors and rehabbed until he is completely healthy.
  5. I wonder how much patience Lou is going to have with Soriano this year. I wouldn't mind seeing Nady out there more often.
  6. With the .176 team BA to start the season, I think Lou is going to give everybody a chance to start producing. I just hope that if Colvin or Nady get hot that Lou sticks with them. In regard to Fontenot, it is pretty much pick your poison. Neither Baker or Fontenot give me much hope for decent production at 2B this year. I'm fine with rotating them until one starts to outplay the other.
  7. I much rather have Gorz as our 5th starter than Silva when Lilly comes back. I would rather have who ever is doing best be the 5th starter. People rooting for a Cubs player to fail is moronic. Silva is a Cub deal with it. No doubt. I hope that Silva has a terrific year. I doubt it will happen, but I would love to feel good about the Bradley trade.
  8. Hey at least the bullpen managed to keep the lead until Marmol gets in the game.
  9. Cashner with 9Ks through 3.1 innings.
  10. Cashner is dealing in Tenn tonight. 5 outs so far, all strikeouts.
  11. Troy Glaus is quickly becoming my favorite player, not on the Cubs.
  12. Maybe at a 1 year $1 million contract. Hes a loogy, not a set up man. His splits don't even agree that he is a good loogy. He is a decent middle innings guy. The fact that Lou is using him as the main set up guy is depressing. If the bullpen doesn't shape up, of if Lou doesn't figure out how to use the guys in the pen quick, it is going to be a long season.
  13. So now that Castro is in the minors, Theriot goes back to sucking? :banghead:
  14. You can't say you actually don't hate it, the pictures are iffy and it looks pretty cool. You can say it's bad, it's okay, or it's good. It looks like crap here, even more crowded than the other angle. The banner is ridiculous, especially the dumb slogan. I like the way that the pictures look and the look of the banner. It makes the park look somewhat updated. I agree 100% with you in regard to the slogan. "It's a way of life?" makes Cub fans sound even more like losers. I realize that they had the W flag in the slogan, but it still doesn't fit a team that is equated with failure over the last 100 years or so and is coming off a disappointing season.
  15. This is how I feel. The good thing about baseball, is that it is simply one game in a very long season. The bad thing is that considering the pitching match ups, this should have been a very winnable game for the Cubs.
  16. So beyond Lee, Watkins and maybe Antigua are there any other players worth keeping an eye on? Surprised the Kirk or Raley didn't show up on the roster.
  17. I never realized the Cubs were so cheap when it came to the draft.
  18. I don't see why they wouldn't at least listen to offers. Fukudome is a decent RF, but is being severely overpaid. If the Cubs are going to keep a winning team on the field long term, they are going to need to do it by spending their money better than they have in the past. We all know that Colvin's spring is not sustainable. But the numbers he put up last year while recovering from TJS were impressive, especially his power numbers. Add his new weight to the equation, and I believe he is a better bet to hit with power than Fukudome. To me, if the coaches, scouts, and management think that he is ready to handle the majors and can put up similar OPS production to Fukudome, I'm all for it.
  19. I prefer a triple to a walk ever day of the week. He is absolutely on fire at the moment, and that ball was smoked over the CF's head.
  20. I think Shark will be a late innings guy. Yesterday vs. the Mariners his stuff looked fantastic in short relief. I wish they would just leave him there instead of yo-yoing him around.
  21. I don't how Bruce gets drug into this. According the reports, Bradley accused the media of running him out of town, and Bruce commented back to him that it wasn't the case. It happens all of the time in reporting. The reporters were trying to give him a chance to explain his comments and Bradley walked away. (probably the best thing for all people involved). I think its ridiculous to expect that Bruce is completely immune to Bradley's or other players shenanigans. If anything, having read Bruce for years, including his columns, blogs, and posts, shouldn't we be giving Bruce the benefit of the doubt on this one? In my opinion a player must really be a prick to have Bruce writing negative comments about anything other than their performance on the field.
  22. If you watched the game today, you could obviously see that he was squaring the ball up. None of his hits were cheap. I was also impressed by his eye. During his first ab, I though he may actually get his first walk. Is he going to hit .400+ during the season? No, but he does appear to be healthy and he is hitting the ball better than any player on the team atm.
