  1. This world's was a disgrace for USA, we need to cancel mamby pamby sports like football and basketball and take our crown as the world's best in T+F. First eliminate the foreign track scholarships to U.S. schools. 2nd. eliminate spring practice for football and encourage the kids to actually get in shape by going out for a spring sport. 3rd. discourage all other coaches using running as a penalty/punishment for anything, this gives the act of running a negative connotation.
  2. we were screwed out of the 4*100
  3. jeez, is there anyway that he's actually clean? i dunno, michael johnson was just as dominant during his time, and i don't recall people seriously questioning him. That was back when Ben Johnson was really the only major track athlete to be caught taking anything. It wasn't until a few years later that all the sprinters started dropping like flies. People are a lot more suspicious after that happened. The TAC has the most strict policy when it comes to drugs, If you have two mt. Dews before your race this is considered enough PED to get you disqualified. If the NFL and MLB had their standards we might not be fielding most NFL teams
  4. Fat lady isn't singing yet but she is warming up
  5. Let's see the cubs or Seabiscuit on TNT???? Well I see it on later so I'll settle for my Cubbies. don't let me down
  6. they should have given him his own race then did a secondary finals for everybody else. This is not bowing well for the American 4*100 Maybe we can vaseline their baton
  7. Dang, school district has youtube blocked
  8. sorry, working with IE instead of Safari which catches my atrocious spelling mistakes
  9. As you can tell by these statements that I grew up with the Cubs, thus the confusion ](*,)
  10. Cards also lost, so it's not really a big deal yet Regardless, please don't don that think where you bump this after every series we lose I hope it does get bumped and edited because I think this will be interesting to follow. Well I'm assuming it's going to go horribly wrong and I'm going to get blasted like the Cubs sucking is all my fault. If it plays out exactly the way I posted, feel free to bump away! :) The Cardinals are just down out right hot right now I don't know how we could catch them. They aren't Zoolander" hot but "Hansel" hot!
  11. It use to be just drop them, as the case in the 1964 Olympics proved but today they have a psychologis, gynecologis, a person that specializes in gender altering, endocronoligist Caster Semenya is her/his name from S. Africa and her mom says she is a 100 percent girl. Mom may be right on the girl thing but not the 100 percent statement If she is, how embarrasing and mind scaring can that be, walking around with that label the rest of your life
  12. Yeah, he hasn't had much success in the 100. He has an opportunity to be the most celebrated Athlete of the early 21st century with a win in the 100, 200 and 400 no man has ever won all three. I personally would like to see him do that and throw down the challenge to the Americans to step up their game in the 400, which we dominate, then take him to the cleaners, but it would be one great race to remember. I would be willing to pay superbowl price for that ticket If he were going to step up to the 400, I'd like to see him focus a year's worth of training on it first so we'd really get to see what he could do. I'm sure you know it's a slightly different type of training, and I'm curious how his body would respond. Then put him on the track against Merritt and Wariner and see who comes out on top. He has the pure speed to pull it off. But the 400 is a different beast that incorporates a lot more speed endurance. It doesn't look like we're going to get to see that Bolt vs. Gay final in the 200. I'm hearing Gay dropped out with a groin injury. (::Waits for witty pun about connection between his name and groin injury::) That is how I woulld have him approach the 400 then try to get an inside lane and dog Wariner for 300 meters then kick in overdrive
  13. Well when Michael Johnson broke the world record in the 200, there were people wondering the same thing. They thought he passed the threshold of what a human being should be able to do. They used to believe that your heart would fail at that speed. I don't think we'll ever see anyone go faster than 9.3 in the 100 or 19 seconds in the 200. But then again, they used to think the four minute mile was unattainable too. there are many scientists who study physics of the body and bio-mechanics of activities the body takes part in who say we are nowhere close to the human speed limit. we are only limited by how fast our muscles respond to electro-mechanical signals from our brains. i would not be surprised if someone doesn't break 9 seconds within 6-10 years. biologically, we aren't close to the max speed a human could run. Great post, obviously I agree. With new training techniques someone will do it, but first we have to get off the couch.
  14. A great optomist, I hope this happens
  15. Everybody will be healthy by September, not that they will hit or pitch well but they will be healthy.
  16. Yeah, he hasn't had much success in the 100. He has an opportunity to be the most celebrated Athlete of the early 21st century with a win in the 100, 200 and 400 no man has ever won all three. 17. Johnson explained that bolt has an incredible arm turn over rate which makes him ideal for the 200 which compensates for the long legs. when he comes out of the turn the arm pumping forces his stride to be almost as large as Edwin Mose's. Michael Johnson believes he will run 19.1 and should think about dropping the 100 for a race/meet and running the 400 which would better suit him.
  18. People take track seriously? It's practice for real sports. Track is the second biggest sport in the world behind soccer. Just because America doesn't embrace it doesn't mean people don't follow it. It paid for my college education, so I still follow it when I can. In terms of what? Participation? Yes and in europe they are treated like gods, many American sprinters like coming home because they can focus on the training rather than being celebrities. Wierd huh
  19. Complete agreement!! What is sad is that the Cubs never generated any excitement this year. I hope they can prove me wrong.
  20. I honestly think 19.1 and change is not out of the question. He looked sharp out of the blocks and just opened up after his drive phase. 9.58 is just ridiculous though. Gay broke the American record and got beat pretty bad. I'm curious to see what Gay can do in the 200. He just PRed in the 100. He looks to be in incredible shape. Gay's second half of the race was quicker than the first half so it looks like he and Bolt will be pushing each other. I would like to see a lne assignment 4 and 5 or even more fun 1 and 8 but that won't happen unless they draw and not go by time but that won't happen either
  21. I know it is Usain but running 9.58 is insane, .11 faster than Beijing, that is 12 meters a second. The U.S. record was broken with 9.71 Tyson Gay. What will he do in the 200 18 sec.?
  22. Should this thread be under the "minor league" area because the Pirates are the AAAA for all other teams?
  23. How about Rosy Brown? Is he still playing AAAA ball?
  24. I just can't see why Sandberg won't be it. they denied him the job the first time around because he need some coaching experience and the Cubs gave him that opportunity. It looks like they are grooming him for something.
