  1. Cubs.com has an article up now. Says it's only a 2-year deal with an option for a 3rd year.
  2. Levine thinks it's a good deal. Eyre was the 3rd best lefty available in free agency. Says Hendry is also going after a RH setup guy like Looper and Howry.
  3. Levine is going to be back on in a couple minutes to give details. You can listen online at: http://www.espnradio1000.com/
  4. Just reported on ESPN 1000. Levine said it was a done deal.
  5. Levine just reported it as a done deal. 3 years $11 million.
  6. The Score just had an update and they indeed said that Eyre could sign with the Cubs soon, maybe as early as today.
  7. Jesus Christ, can we at least wait and see if he's signed and if so for what dollar amount before we blast Hendry for "overpaying?" If it's a 3-year contract as rumored it's overpaying. I'm hoping the Score is wrong, but ESPN 1000 has said pretty much the same thing today.
  8. Anyone have Epstein's number. It's getting close to time the Trib gave him a call...
  9. more overpaying for mediocre talent. Glad Hendry can overpay for people like Rusch, Neifi, Macias (you know it's going to happen), and now Eyre. I guess this means Hill has no place on the big league roster or is on his way out of town.
  10. The guy from mlbtraderumors.com has a new rumor up, this time about Dotel. You'll love the source behind the rumor.
  11. Agent talk or has it already gotten to this???
  12. Eyre is a lefty and Heilman is a righty. Both decent additions to the bullpen, IMO.
  13. There's absolutely no way Hendry goes into next season with an outfield of Murton, Mench, and Cpatt. This is a huge offseason for Hendry if he wants to keep his job. The pressure is on him big time and the money is there for him to field an excellent team. If he goes into 2006 with an outfield of Murton, Mench, and Cpatt or Pierre, then Hendry has no right being a GM and should be fired immediately.
  14. It looks like the Yankees are going to start the bidding at 3 years and $33 million. And that's just the start of the bidding. I don't mind Hendry not getting into a bidding war over the 35-year-old Giles as long as he brings in an impact bat through a trade.
  15. According to the Boston Globe the Red Sox are expected to make their opening offer to Damon soon in the range of 3 years and between $25-$27 million. That's close to what Johnny is expecting...
  16. My skinny butt can't handle the cold weather. Warm weather is much better.
  17. We might have to give a group apology to the guy who runs that rumor website. Looks like he was right on about the Cameron trade.
  18. I'm skeptical at best. None of the Mets boards are talking about this.
  19. Isn't the date for the Rule V coming up soon? Doesn't the roster have to be set soon? Wonder if we'll be seeing more of these trades in the near future.
  20. Is this a small trade with the Rangers to see how we are as trading partners? Should we expect another trade with the Rangers soon? God I hope not.
  21. Looks like it's a done deal: http://www.nydailynews.com/front/breaking_news/story/366234p-311805c.html
  22. I can't see any team coming anywhere near that price and length of contract with all the seemingly available CF through trades. Most I see a team giving him is a 4 year contract.
  23. Could the Marlins be asking for Cedeno and Hendry needs to wait until he signs Furcal first? If Hendry trades Cedeno or Hill just to get Pierre I'm not going to be very happy.
