  1. There's nothing more interesting than listening to older people joke about how they don't understand technology. A whole inning about cell phones... scintillating.
  2. I missed the game today. How did Beasley do? Read the last two pages. dmb = DeMarcus Beasley = not exactly collecting the compliments So did the rest of America.
  3. Not only a HR, but all the way to the 2nd row!
  4. Was accidentally watching WGN before realizing Len and Bob were on comcast. This is what Hawk said about Barrett/P... : "A lot of people don't realize, A.J. hit Barrett a lot harder than Barrett hit A.J. Barrett got knocked down, A.J. didn't hardly even flinch." That's paraphrased, but essentially his words.
  5. It's cute that you said "if". D'oh! One minute!
  6. There is no way that happens this year. Cubs are averaging 39,000/game, Sox 32,400/game. Most Cubs tickets are already sold, I don't think the Sox could get to the level that the Cubs are at AND make up the difference that we've already seen through the first 1/5 of the season. And I mean: I wouldn't be surprised if it's not even mathematically possible, not to mention the unlikelihood of that happening.
  7. Say what you will about Kobe, he makes some amazing plays.
  8. One car accidents make me wonder, especially by guys with troubled pasts. I hope he wasn't having recent troubles.
  9. They probably have better stuff. But it wouldn't have to be government stuff, just government regulated. Ah, I gotcha, so business owners could grow whatever they want. Sort of, but it would all have to be approved by FDA standards, etc. It would then probably be taxed like crazy and cost way more per "pack" than cigarettes It does now anyway. It would be like liquor, ranging from top shelf bud to well weed.
  10. MLS average 1998-2005: 15626 NHL average 1998-2005: 13173 Ok, but you said: not MLS vs. NHL. Hey I'd rather watch the Fire than the Hawks, I'm just not sure that MLS is the 4th sport in Chicago, yet.
  11. Say what you will about Reinsdorf, but there have been exactly 7 championships for Chicago teams in the four major sports in the last 20 years. All 7 have been Reinsdorf's teams. The Chicago Fire won 2 titles in the early part of the decade.... Soccer just missed the four major sports cutoff....it was REAL close though... :D The Fire probably consistently outdraw the Blackhawks. I'd argue that they are the 4th major sports team in the city... EDIT: Average attendance for the Fire: 98-17,887 99-16,016 00-13,387 01-16,338 02-12,992 03-14,005 04-17,153 05-17,238 Hawks: 98-17,330 99-16,274 00-14,997 01-15,569 02-14,795 03-13,253 The Fire easily outdraw the Hawks. Easily? Did you look at your numbers? Granted the Fire must have had a better 04 and 05, but it was back and forth for a while.
  12. Garciaparra. I can't believe you would forget, he's right there in LA! Jk, sounds like great seats, thanks for the summary and the attempt to get the scoop on Lee. :)
  13. Gotta love Ronny's passon after his hit and his game-ending catch.
  14. Have you been there? I have been wanting to get there sometime and see a game. I hear it is amazing. Also, did the Cigar Bar thing go through? yes, i went last year. Tons of Cubs fans, great view, great food and amenities, comfortable seats (with an usher who wipes your seat down for you before you settle in). It's too bad their team sucks and the fans don't come. I have said this before... If it weren't for the ambience factor of Wrigley, PNC would be my favorite ballpark. Just a fantastic venue in every way. Also, to anyone that goes to PNC, eat a Primanti Bros. sandwich. You won't be disappointed. I know you do too, but I live 2 blocks from Wrigley and I think PNC is the best park in the majors.
  15. Dude. D'Agostino's is terrible. The only people I've ever known to stomach it are from out of town. And to the original question, I know you're parking at your hotel, but if you are planning on getting there early enough to watch BP, you can find a parking space for free within a couple blocks at most. Also, if you scanned the first 30 pages looking for this topic, that is mighty impressive. Enjoy the game!
  16. A couple of years ago when Reds where in town for a night game I saw the cops towing a Honda CRV with Ohio plates and a Reds spare tire cover. It was parked by Racine and Wavland and I wonder if they picked on that vehicle because it was out of town? If I were them I would have at least taken the Reds sparetire cover off. Without a guest pass or, obviously, a resident sticker, even Ron Santo's car would have gotten towed from there at night.
  17. My tournament-winning hopes rest with riding Villanova to the title or seeing UConn go down, but my orange blood finds it hard to root for Washington. What to do?
  18. MVC schools have the best shot IMO: Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Wichita State The answer is the same as last year: Wisconsin-Milwaukee. How are they going to stop Gray and Bookout with only one guy over 6-7 averaging double digit minutes? I don't know, how'd they stop Dudley and Smith for BC last year? Doing deep analysis for things only ends up causing me to out-think myself. They didn't, Dudley and Smith scored 47 points. Big difference is that UW-M's offense isn't nearly as good as last year's model. Your convincing analysis cost me a point. Don't be so convincing if you're going to be wrong! :)
  19. I'm guessing that yours is a pretty unique bracket. I like your style, though. I'm boring, UConn-Villanova-Texas-Memphis, with Villanova winning. And Gonzaga goes down earlier, I think they're more overrated than Tennessee. Good luck to everyone!
