  1. Or the fact that it's a Cardinals fan. I've seen "moran" referenced on several different boards and in many different topics, but the fact that it's a fan of our arch rival is priceless.
  2. Why do they bother to have the news after games like this? Who is waiting through 18 innings just to see the WGN news?
  3. Murton can redeem himself for making us sit through these extra 9 innings of futility.
  4. I was on the L approaching the Addison stop from work and listening on my walkman when Alou hit the 2nd of the back-to-back against the Reds. I yelled and everyone looked my way as I explained what happened. I was at the A's game with Barrett driving in Walker, awesome ending. I also have Pat and Ron's call of that on my ipod, I've probably listened to that 75-100 times (it's "Top Rated"). :) Nice video, thanks for putting it together.
  5. When I heard on the radio yesterday that the wave was performed at Wrigley, a little piece of me died. I too have a story of a group of clueless, drunken 20somethings trying to start the wave a few seasons ago and nobody participating. I was proud that I had never seen or heard of the wave being performed at Wrigley. To everyone saying "it's not a big deal", you just don't get it. You DO NOT do the wave at Wrigley. I'm not surprised if the RF bleachers started it, as my experiences tell me that they are the worst baseball fans in Wrigley, game in and game out. There are many annoying fan participation activities that go on at ball games, but performing the mindless, lemmings-over-the-cliff wave is the worst. Wrigley just got a little less special in my book.
  6. "Breakfast with the Beatles" was (is?) a 3 or 4 hour weekly radio program that was dedicated to their songs, their outtakes and alternate takes, other musicians covering their songs, etc. I wouldn't doubt if there were other shows like that throughout the country. Not to mention events such as Beatlefest which celebrate the Beatles. Metallica was my favorite band for several years, I had every album until St. Anger, Master of Puppets and Fade To Black are two of my favorite songs, and I still enjoy listening to them. That said, in my opinion The Beatles are hands-down the better band. Obviously, though, the two bands are quite different and likely attract quite a different fanbase.
  7. I liked Reynolds. Maybe he was too supportive of everyone but he was enthusiastic and that added to the show. I thought he was buddies with Alex Rodriguez, it wouldn't surprise me that he stood up for him in production meetings. Especially when the AROD angle they're going for is so stupid.
  8. The crowning achievement and what I consider to be so ground breaking about "Revolver" is that literally every single song sounds completely different from the rest. All 14 tracks. Next you should go for Rubber Soul...it was when the boys became men. Deep and introspective songs on there such as "Nowhere Man" or "In My Life" were unheard of at that time among pop groups. I think it may be my favorite album of theirs. By the way, if you like "Revolver", you should check out their song "Rain" which was recorded during the Revolver sessions and released as a single. It's often cited as the most overlooked Beatles' song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJxnSHbaees I love Ringo's drumming on Rain. Widely regarded as his best work, and I agree.
  9. I was going to say pretty much the same thing. DMB got to be so huge and so affiliated with the "frat boy music" label that many people not already into them turned against them. I admit that while I am a big DMB fan, it is not any fun to go to a concert and sit in the lawn with a bunch of people that are 90% there for the party and 10% there for the music. DMB gets my vote, although Mayonnaise by SP is probably on my Top Ten list of favorite songs ever.
  10. I've only seen Pearl Jam live once, (and never seen GD) but I thought it was outstanding. I think I'm in the minority as a big PJ fan. Green Day is fine, but they're nothing special to me. I saw PJ front row center at the Allstate a few years ago. It was outstanding. It would've been great from the back row, too, but, well, I wasn't in the back row. ps-any English majors that can tell me whether my rare 4 consecutive comma-ed words is actually correct?
  11. Alice in Chains is my favorite band ever. I guess I won't be voting against the Beatles in this tournament.
  12. Derwood I agree with your Radiohead seed. Losing by 15 to CCR is criminal.
  13. I thought this was supposed to be one of the top officials?
  14. Eriksson is the Dusty Baker of football managers for leaving Crouch on. Somewhere, Sir Alex is throwing a fit. Sorry this is late, I was out watching the game. Just curious why you guys thought it should have been Crouch coming off? Obviously it's easier to say it was a good decision after his goal, but even before that it seemed like Crouch was much more involved than Owen. Owen had that one shot that went wide and I don't remember much else, Crouch had a few chances which he admittedly botched, but at least he was there.
  15. The nice thing about Pierre batting with two outs is that if I leave to go get my laundry right as he steps to the plate, I get back to my apartment right as the next inning starts!
  16. That couldn't have hurt too much from Juan's bat.
