  1. So let me get this straight... The Cubs are sending: Patterson Remlinger 2 ML ready players 1 Million Dollars Rusch Macias All for Brad Wilkerson? Errr...am I the only one that thinks this is a bit overboard?
  2. Is Hairston's lack of defenisve ability in Center compared to Gold Glove caliber defense in CF worth the same disparity?
  3. I understadn the thought of dealing Dempster and selling high but to expect Hanley Ramirez for him is like seeing the Red Sox suddenly becoming the Mets. Besides, I would rater be interested in other parts of the Red Sox. Wee Need OF help ore then we need 2 infielders. If we were to sell high with Dempster it would make better sense to address a need and not get the best prospect on the team.
  4. And they are without Jose Vidro and Nick Johnson. They are also the best team we have played recently. Complain all you want but they are a good team.
  5. Or simply a failed experiment to get a slumping player back on the right track.
  6. Believe that they can be more like the rest of us or at least give us some credit for this season. Or maybe just talk about us occasionally in a positive light instead of the "lovable losers"
  7. Back to the topic of lineups instead of Patterson: Cedeno Barrett Lee Burnitz Ramirez Patterson Dubois Walker Pitcher I would like Walker in the 8th spot to take pitches and work the inning in front of the pitcher something Barrett never does and something Cedeno can't be expected to do without seeing MLB pitching for an extended period of time.
  8. How many pitches did Patterson see today? I only saw his 1st 2 AB's which were both swing K's on 3-2 pitches. By my count he saw 16 in these 2 AB's. Thats pretty good. Brenly made a good point today talking about Corey. The thought is that he is fighting out of the slump. He is fouling pitches straight back which is a good sign but he is not hitting the ball square (or as Brenly eloquently stated "smack in the mouth"). This means he does not have a level swing and is uppercutting, which has always been his hole and why he can't reach the high & away pitch. Just like Lee has adjusted Corey can adjust as well. I think that his attempt to move to leadoff to try and break out of it was a valiant attempt to try and help the team. However, this hurt Corey. Right now batting 7th would be the best spot for him "protecting" Walker. The top of the order should have Perez/Cedeno and then Barrett. I would like to try that experiment again to see if we can go back to the old school hit & run style of offense talked about earlier this season. To address the booing, I agree that people have the "right" to boo, but I also think that it should be done sparingly and not directed at a player constantly. How does this help the situation? Boo the micall yesterday with Burny's HR and boo his Pickoff at 3rd but don't boo him again today when he GIDP. Whats the point? Its not like he tried to do that. Its the same mentality in abusive relationships. You have to break the habit and use postive reinforcement in order to make the punishment more meaningful. Otherwise it will desensitze the entire situation which will lead to having to use different negativity which will lead to violence. What good has ever come from the constant booing of a player?
  9. Really? I sure don't. After the issues last season, Guillen was exactly what we didn't need. He is a malcontent. Being in So Cal, I was able to hear and see it. There is a reason why he has played on 4 teams in 3 years. He produces, and he plays with fire. I loved it when he stuck it to Mikey and the Angels last month with that shot and cussed all the way around the bases. Would you feel the same way if that Was Sosa doing that to us in Wrigley?
  10. I am concerned by the amount of FLy Balls so far though.

  12. Blame Dusty. oh i do. at this point i almost find it humorous though. could you imagine if a doctor showed this kind of reasoning? well sir, since your foot hurts i think we will have to give you tommy john surgery. It makes sense as Burnitz is coming off a solid June and is the Left hander. The middle of the order is hardly the problem
  13. Really? well everyone loves to jump on patterson for brain lapses, yesterday was the biggest gaffe you can have in sports. the one time the guy has to hit the ball in the air he can't if we would have had a runner on second there with no one out you know he wouldn't have hit the ball on the groung like he did there. Sure Burnitz has some lapses, remember the drop fly ball? But to call him worthless is a bit harsh don't you think?
  14. Brenly wasn't beating Corey up, he was explaining about how "close" corey is and how he is getting under the ball too much. He made sense actually.
  15. It was not a HR, the replays showed it was clearly foul. We still should have won this game. What replays? Pat & Ron said that the cameras didn't catch the flight of the ball.
  16. exactly why I voted other as well. How could you make Wrigley better?
  17. Well according to Cubs.com, Prior threw again today and there are some good quotes about it over there. Basicaly he says that stuff like throwing doesn't nessacarily bother him all the time but some everyday stuff aggrvates it and he is taking it 1 day at a time.
  18. one could argue that it already happened with Tony Pena. My guess will be Jim Tracy. New owners, already used to firing people and popular people. Jim is getting a lot of heat in So Cal.
  19. MacPhail was still the GM then (Hendry was the assistant). If I recall, however, I think Hendry was generally credited for the trade. Hmmm....ok then. So Lets recap some of the pitchers Hendry has dealt or lost... Jones Tavarez Chavez Willis Farnsworth Sisco Sanchez Who am I missing? Beltran & Cruz Ronald Bay, Matt Bruback, Ben Christiansen, Steve Smyth... It was freakin 2am! :P Although I did recall Smyth this morning but Bruback we got back and released as we did Christiansen so those 2 shouldn't be counted. No Idea how I forgot Bear.

  21. No to nitpick but I thought MacPhail did the Willis trade.
