  1. The Cubs should officially be known as the big market "bargain" team.
  2. Which still is not bad.
  3. At this price I’d take it. If he opts out that means he had a good year. The Cubs are loaded for 26 and then as you said there is both incertainty in baseball/CBA and uncertainty with the Cubs w many contracts expiring. Why not go all in??
  4. For me it’s simple - win 90+ and I am very satisfied. That’s a playoff team, maybe a division winner, and it means you have a shot in October.
  5. Gore has the pedigree and the stuff. As people have said the Nats have sucked at developing pitchers and their defense also sucked. He could be so much better here - I hope we can get him and at a price that does not break the bank.
  6. Cubs fans don't want to wait until January!!
  7. The more I read on him the more I am all in on lmai. JED. MAKE. IT. SO.
  8. They def have a strategy.... with the unknown year looking with the CBA, they want ST contracts, and they want older players who they think for one year are cheaper.
  9. Sorry I’m sure I am behind and did not read this entire thread. I just saw the ESPN story that it’s believed he is down to these two teams.
  10. Ooooh we are a finalist. Cubs v Yankees!
  11. Boras is always willing to wait.
  12. Is the goal to be the oldest team in baseball?
  13. I am a long time Nats fan and I will just say their focus on what they want back will be pitching.
  14. It sounds like the entire American League East wants him, and the price is going up.
  15. Michigan fan?
  16. Is there any type of meta analysis that’s been done on long term contracts in baseball?
  17. Wow when you out it out there like that it really makes you realize how much the current regime hates LT contracts. Compare this list to LA, NYY, NYM, SD, Philly, Bos, even the Braves and you will notice a huge difference.
  18. That is sort of a strength of our manager though, right?
  19. Do we need to define the word “interest” for these conversations? 😆
  20. You’d think Mayo would be on the block now for sure.
  21. I found my own answer on chatGPT: Zac Gallen has 2 career starts pitching at Wrigley Field (vs. the Cubs). Here are his Wrigley-only pitching lines: July 20, 2024 (at CHC, Wrigley): 5.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 6 BB, 4 K (Diamondbacks won 3–0) April 19, 2025 (at CHC, Wrigley): 6.0 IP, 6 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 HR (Cubs won 6–2) Totals at Wrigley Field (career): 2 GS, 11.0 IP, 6 ER, 10 H, 8 BB, 6 K, 2 HR, 1–1, 4.91 ERA.
  22. Does anyone know Zac’s numbers pitching at Wrigley?
  23. Does getting Bregman require us to trade Shaw? Remember Bregman was hurt last year. Infield depth is not a bad thing.
