If THE RICKETTs are unwilling to let the 32,000 acre Grizzly Ridge Bison Ranch go back to the Blackfeet Tribe from whence it came, I seriously have reservations they let go of the cash cow known as the wrigleyville experience
Thanks, I wasn't sure penalty included a 2nd rounder? Was the 2nd rounder because jed just wormed over the first tax threshold? If so, his accountant messed up just a skootch
Having snagged Snell, I'm now expecting announcements from dodgers about signing Soto during the WM followed by Sasaki in January. Thusly creating a clean sweep of acquiring the proven successful veteran pitcher, the best bat next to ohtani not yet in the hall of fame and the best kid thrower since DAVID.
The sad part, dodgers will probably still be very active throughout WM and beyond.
Also, goes to show us all, boras may suffer from a hiccup now and then. But, like a gladiator, he truly is more powerful than Caesar
I agree, jed doesn't tip his hand on trades. After Thanksgiving, there's the industry expectation this offseason should be very busy.
BTW 1908, I recall you gave a short list of names who were 5th round picks by the cubs in years past. Do you recall any.? Were any exciting?
I think it's rather amusing, we have several here who do an excellent job tracking cub payroll pro bono publico following each roster move. And Jed has an entire compensated accounting staff that can't add 2+2 and carry the one.
Kinda shocking to think Brandon Hyde has been oriole manager for 6 seasons and returning for 7th next year. Seems like yesterday he was wearing cub pinstripes. And now I'm questioning why cubby brass didn't view him as a viable successor to Joe.
That's a rough ice water bucket challenge on a Monday morning. I'm guessing the one and only route to a 90 win regular season with jeds available $ is getting Sasaki. Sasaki will be cheap initially because of international pool. Unfortunately he won't sign until later in January. A lot of options for player acquisitions will be done. That's why I'm figuring thaiss is our catcher addition. Morgan and possibly Finnegan and a few blind squirrels will be our bullpen adds. Mastrobuoni prob remains backup infielder. One of the recovering starting pitcher free agents gets some sort of st invitation or a short prove it deal.
Rest assured, Sasaki will be our one true hope of a Paladin arriving at Wrigley in 2025. Jeds walking a high-wire tightrope without a net. It's up to him if he hangs on or crash lands.
I'm not sure how this will play out. Dodgers have a 25 year $8 billion deal. Yankees have lucrative deals with YES and amazon. The Cubs and Sinclair owning marquee but being squeezed by Comcast.
I suspect attorneys will be busy.
But on the other end, fans with disposable incomes will be able to watch any team any time.
Possibly all the rumors surrounding 2029 as a potential target date for a unified all inclusive mlb channel which will rule out individual teams and their own sweet deals for broadcasting rights?
I'm wondering why Seattle mariner pundits are suggesting Hoerner + Neely is equal to emmerson hancock?
Perhaps somebody who follows minor league players can offer scouting reports on hancock?
Yeah, somebody please refresh my bad memory, when was the last time jed threw a boatload of money at another team to take one of his players in trade?
Not saying it hasn't happened, but I dunno, doesn't sound like jed's MO to me?
