  1. If Jed were to exceed the luxury tax in 2025 by $10-15mil, cubs then would be hit with 30% charge. So it would be 3-4.5mil penalty? Or is it 30% of the entire payroll? Like 75mil penalty?
  2. Just a thought bednar @ 6mil?
  3. Crochet costs little $
  4. Good pitching always Trump good hitting. Go out and get more pitching
  5. I doubt seriously any team will venture a gamble on Wicks having 2 oblique injuries and a forearm injury all in 2024. And Brown is even more of a roll of the dice because nobody has ever pitched while wearing a neckbrace. And a cloud of mystery surrounds the Cubs explanation thus far to what ails the youngsters cervical limitations
  6. Trey Mancini is coming back to mlb. He might be that right-handed bat off the bench some people lust after
  7. That's probably where jed gains the power this roster needs. Any trade for either realistically would require Amaya going in return. Probably plus Alcantara and...? A young infielder or young pitcher?
  8. Sounds like roster $ space availablity is a confusing subject. No wonder jed eeked slightly above the penalty danger zone by mere rubles in 2024. Probably using accountants from reddit
  9. I'd have a difficult time walking away from 27.5mil plus a 5mil buyout after 2025 season. But then again, I can't hit the curveball...nor the fastball
  10. YES. Thanks, Freudian slip haha
  11. Interesting thoughts. Boras has Sosa as a client. I'm of a mind that he's going to devote most of his energies Sosa direction. His other free agent clients might get the lesser amount of negotiating priorities? I'm not sure if boras hands off client's to other members of his work staff to do the numbers?
  12. I think jeds wants the opt out to happen
  13. Your thoughts are failing in my mind. The "laws" negotiated between labor and owner specifications were no negotiations between other teams and client until after 5 days post WS. And if you were to think Jed would be happy to negotiate more $ in belli's account, I'd be thinking you be wrong. At the end of season presser it sounded like jeds anticipating (and probably hoping) for the opt out scenario. Cuzi made an accurate summation when he pointed out boras probably has feelers to other potentially interested teams. Is this labor ethical? Dunno? 8 years retired, business owner for almost 26 years. So you can probably guess where I pledge allegiance
  14. I'm sure he has to show up better this time as compared to last years boner.
  15. Simple question on my part. My sports news feed has been playing the belli-button in or out speculation from every erzats sports writer wanna-be for like 2 solid weeks. I'm just curious on my own part why the agent usually plays it out til the final moments like it's a super duper Howey Mandel "deal or no deal" final season episode. Im Just like you though, I eat cubs for breakfast lol
  16. I understand they get 5 days after WS. But why do some stretch it out til the last moment? I mean, c'mon they really can't negotiate with other teams during those 5 days, can they?
  17. Cubs could aquire multiple elite players like soto? I love the offseason, bless us cubfans, one and all
  18. Stratos, with all due respects, I'm an old fart and I recall a Cub gm by the name of Larry himes who couldn't negotiate with Greg maddux and Scott boras. His solution, oh well, we'll put some Greg maddux money towards 3 free agents, Guzman, plesac and maldonado and cover the overall difference of losing maddog
  19. I'm unclear if wRC includes defense in their calculations? Because I suspect Wisdom tutored Morel on glove work and throwing accuracy
  20. Thank you for pointing this out. And I've been drinking too much. Lol
  21. Then league average must be as potent as a mules dick
  22. Don't be hard on jed. You've been following his work for 4 freaking years. Ya know the definition of insanity 🤪
  23. His lack of usage by counsell when he realized he stunk points towards poor roster construction by jed for failing to be proactive and replacing Wisdoms roster spot
  24. I get it, but where in the world does a hitter with a negative war, poor slug, an obp of .237, on ops+ of 85 and a ba of .171, and a far below glove deserve starts when 3 or 4 wins makes a difference for post season chances?
  25. Busch splits were as good if not better than Wisdom . Simple slump or not, If jed tenders him a contract we deserve what he hath wrought
