no way. cubs go full on trollface and alternate 6 and 9 the rest of the way. nice -
anibal sanchez has allowed a very stupid number of hr this year. this looks like it's largely due to the fact that his hr/flyball rate is five times higher than it was last year, but last year it was stupidly small for no reason so in conclusion dongs.

a lot of people seem pretty down on utley, so i will chime into say i'd like to pick him up, provided we don't have to give up anything of significance or guarantee him a bunch of money for next year. coghlan at second is a nice idea but loses a lot of effectiveness when we have to take him out in the fifth inning or whatever. i don't think it'd be a big surprise at all for utley to be useful the rest of the way, and, if he isn't, we can cross our fingers and hope for the best from baez at the beginning of sep. -
robin ventura was only a 2-time all star? that seems crazy low. i guess i just remember him more than i ought to since he played in chicago.

i was at a bar after work watching the game yesterday and a very drunk older gentleman started talking very loudly at me about the cubs. he needed to tell me all about how he was a cardinal fan but he rooted for the cubs second because he hated the reds, brewers, and pirates. it was one of those situations i couldn't really get out of and just found the most awkward. i placated the man and went along with him, and after he few minutes he proved himself reasonably knowledgeable if ever more inebriated. everything seemed to be going fine until pedro strop entered the game and the man shouts "OH AND OF COURSE THE FUCKIN BLACK GUY HAS TO HAVE HIS HAT ON CROOKED." this was the push i finally needed to step away and pretend that i was having a very serious conversation with my friend. talking about baseball with people you don't know can be even worse. -
