    Agreed. Hendry chose a crappy pinch hitter and a career minor leaguer to replace Alou.... that's what pissed me off moreso than just letting Alou walk. everyone's a career minor leaguer before they make it to the major legues. I realize that. I was referring to Dubois's potential, not his past. i dont think it was unreasonable to think he had the potential to be much more than a career minor leaguer.

    i have a feeling this contest is mostly just going to make me upset

    That's kind of the sense I got. I figured when he did that, it was only a matter of time before he hired Washington. everything ive heard indicates that macha was really pissed about the way he was treated last offseason (being fired due to his unwillingness to accept the small salary he was offered, eventually having no choice to come crawling back) and that he was just a jerk to most of the players this year. the thought of ron washington mightve made the decision even easier, but i really think macha was gone unless the a's won the whole thing.

    i really like the whole no home field advantage in the super bowl aspect. it's something fresh and different (at least among pro sports).
