  1. please, no more hampton commercials.
  2. minnesota has been waiting for this game for months, you can tell.
  3. what a crappy game.
  4. Your team usually has to be, you know, good to win Big Ten POY. If Harangody leads the Big East in scoring and rebounding again (he's doing both rather easily right now) and doesn't win Big East POY, I'll be pissed regardless of ND's standing, and I'd imagine the same applies to Harris and UM. If Harris proves to be the best player, he should win the award. If not they should change it to conference MVP and be done with it. That said, I'm sure someone will prove to be at least as deserving for a more competitive team. Depends on who finishes where obviously. If Purdue finishes top 3 I could see Hummel or Johnson winning it. Johnson has been the best center in the Big Ten (16th in points, 11th in rebounds, 3rd in FG%, 1st in blocks). Meanwhile Hummel is still putting up very good numbers despite playing with a bad back and not practicing a single day since December. Plus he has the preseason player of the year going for him. People could vote for him because it makes them look good for picking him in the preseason. Right now I would vote for Harris but there isn't a clear cut definite favorite. i dont think you can be 16th in points and be BTPOY. haha, well that objectivity for ya. but, in actuality, i think the whole purdue team deserves to win it, and i assume that they will.
  5. I realize that. That's what I meant -- he obviously wanted out, and the majority of UK fans wanted him out as well. It wasn't working anymore, probably because of the unrealistic expectations many of us have. i think kentucky fans have high expectations, but i don't think they're unrealistic. unrealistic would be tennessee fans thinking they're going to win the bcs championship every single season. but everyone forget that i just mentioned tennessee, plz.
  6. dob, tubby left uk for another job. i don't know if he was going to get fired, but he wanted out, bad.
  7. crean is the coach at a top 5 program because he had a good run over 2 weekends 6 years ago. he will help recruiting because he still has a big name and will reinvigorate the program for a time. but if they're expecting the second-coming of bob knight in bloomington, that ain't gonna happen. and because indiana is still a top 5 program, historically, the prestige of the school will sell itself. crean may make a final four or two at iu, but i doubt he adds to the banner total.
  8. Shout out to Gatorade for giving its national player of the year to Greg Paulus his senior year. He definately should have won it over Dwight Howard. It was a good piece of scouting to know how just how good Paulus would become. didn't nick smith win that award or something?
  9. henderson looked just like michael jordan, there. and wake wins on a nice in-bounds.
  10. Good luck winning at Illinois.......that is unless we go into the "I'm pretty sure we're going to win but let's see how close we can make it" offense at the end of the game with a lead. UI almost gave the game against Wisky back because of it. Wow after beating us in overtime you seem a little confident? Purdue has won there last 3 away games....Any who I'll be there to cheer on my Boilermakers and see another big win on the road...Hopefully haha i think it was your objective journalist friend who was the one being a little overconfident. illinois at c-u is likely to be a much tougher game tham msu at purdue, so i have no idea why he chose to leap over the illini. Because MSU is in first so if Purdue gets that game without losing that can take first place. Inferiority complex or just over reaction? purdue is the team that hasn't been to a final four in forever, why on earth would anyone feel inferior to a purdue fan? but, that's some hard-hitting investigative journalism, right there. That's how it came off. There was no reason to make it about Illinois but you did. And yes Purdue hasn't been to the Final Four in a very long time which has always bugged me but they do have the most Big Ten titles. if anything, the comment exhibited an inferiority complex toward msu, which exists because msu is superior to the illini. purdue is not.

  12. that's the word. how weird, i'm not sure what the rules are regarding eligibility, though.
  13. Walter McCarthy now i know that you aren't yourself. who's walter mccarthy? Eh, I put an H in there, I'm Irish. haha. but seriously, take back what you said about the illini.
  14. Walter McCarthy now i know that you aren't yourself. who's walter mccarthy?
  15. UK isn't KU. I expect more than what you listed in this past decade, there should be no reason why UK is not a legit national contender. Looking at some of the mediocre programs (GT, Ohio St. Illinois, UF 3 times, etc) that have been to the title game is terribly frustrating. yikes, you are in a bad mood today, mister. i'd apologize now.
  16. waltahhhhhhhh?
  17. wait, i'm confused. are we talking about kansas or kentucky? haha.
  18. ironically, i'm actually watching derek anderson play for ohio state against indiana in 93 on btn right now.
  19. Maybe a little bit, but that '96 team is still the most talented team of all-time. you could make a valid case for the Tar Heels of the early 80s obviously. they were certainly one of the deepest teams, no doubt. i wouldn't necessarily say the most talented.
  20. i see ping is a little more hyperbolic than usual.

  22. If someone had told me three years ago, when ISU had hired McDermott, they would be this bad at this time. I wouldn't have believed it. love the avatar.
  23. little dude has some handles.
  24. 1987 ui-purdue game in champaign was just on. purdue won in ot, altenberger hit a 3 to send it there, purdue came back from 16 down in the second half, bruce weber sighting.
