  1. maybe they should just give the Cubs Soriano for nothing... that would make all of us Cubs fans happy, no? I'm not sure I'm capable of being happy anymore.
  2. The problem is, as long as Dusty is there he'll be first in line to take the blame. If Hendry fires Dusty and the team still sucks, then it will point to him next. It's a ploy at self preservation, even if everyone can see through it.
  3. WTF!?!?! I thought this was a joke...one of those satirical sports stories like Mark Prior's arm falling off. Being a Cub fan is like being a battered woman who can't leave her abusive husband. You just keep making excuses and saying, "It's not their fault," and "I know they can change." How long til football season?
  4. I think they figure that a baseball fan will choose to watch their national game if they don't have the option of watching their favortite team.
  5. Murton's not a ginger kid. He's a daywalker. Yes but daywalkers are half gingers themselves...they can't be trusted. Make no mistake: gingers are evil. You know who was ginger? Judas. And what did Judas do? Oh, he just got Jesus killed, that's all.
  6. I don't think the Yankees have any quality prospects.
  7. We were all thinking it...you just said it.
  8. This would have been a great spot for sublime. No Derwood, I won't stop bitching about sublime not making it.
  9. But before you vote, first listen to "We Sold Our Souls for Rock and Roll," and do the right thing.
  10. Who has ESPN insider? Maddux is on the front page of Rumor Central, and its saying that another NL Central team has inquired about him. Is the Milwakee inquiry their big inside scoop, or did another NL Central team inquire?
  11. All I agreed with is that it's a shared failure...why that would mean he deserves to finish out the season is beyond me. Hendry and MacPhail should be fired too, but if they want to save their jobs, they better start cleaning house soon.
  12. I don't even drink soda that much, but I'm addicted to Berries and Cream Dr. Pepper. Yes, I'm a Pepper.
  13. Well I was really hoping we could spend way too much money and give up way too much for another player who can't hit in the clutch. Come to think of it, why hasn't he been a Cub yet?
  14. Williams won praise for using his entire roster and his manage-from-the-gut style. The complaints generally related to Williams' tendency to shuffle lineups without offering any explanations to the players. Williams reportedly refers to himself as "Peanut Head". --------------- No mentions of his imaginary friend Mr. Weebles or his tendency to answer any questions about strategy as "manager's decision." YES!! I was waiting for someone to bring up Mr. Weebles. For those of you familliar with the Sports Guy, Bill Simmons, he had an ongoing joke when Jimy was the Red Sox manager...that Jimy had a little man named Mr. Weebles who lived in his mouth and told him to make inexplicable managerial decisions. And this is a top candidate to replace Dusty. In the words of the Sports Guy, "I will now light myself on fire."
  15. Ummm, I can't agree that payroll is the issue. It's poor management. That being said, I'd love to see Cuban come in and clean house, Mavericks style.
  16. I was on step one for most of the month, and steps 2-4 lasted just a few days. Step five set in after game 2 against the Sox. This team isn't worth the energy I would have spent on anger and depression...I have a real life to deal with.
  17. PLEASE let it be Mark Cuban. PLEASE!
  18. You have to have talent to win, period. Injuries, a lack of timely hitting, and poor planning have left this club where it is. No amount of managerial moves would have the Cubs over .500 right now. Leyland was the manager of the Rockies here, and wore out his welcome after one season of .444 baseball. He called out players regularly, and it didn't make the Rockies any better, because the team's talent sucked. Without the right player mix, no amount of managerial skill will turn things around. "Lighting a fire" only does so much...I'm sure most of us played baseball at the high school or college level, and I don't remember ever being in a slump due to a lack of effort, where a coach could get me out of it by chewing my ass out in front of my parents. So why would Dusty publically call out players when the whole team is struggling. Good way to lose a team.
  19. That wont happen as long as Pierre is healthy on the Cubs... but Cedeno-Murton 1-2 would look nice. Pierre's gonna be alright. I like what I've seen on the bases from him...once he finds his stroke, he'll be a huge addition.
  20. Well Bynums got a chance to make me hate him less...nope strike 3. I hate him. He's the new Neifi.
  21. My first look at Bynum, and I already hate him.
