Bench for LaHair, I would guess. or 4th of for him. He could play against righties, filling in for any of the others, and first when Rizzo gets a day off. He could still probably play 4 days a week.

Miles thought it was a call up. Doesn't make sense unless he is going to play regularly. So is someone else ready to be dealt? could make cases for any of the 3 starters (soriano, dejesus or lahair)

I was hoping soto, johnson and jackson to philly for ruiz and pence. heck, if MLB network can throw out johnson for pence, I can throw that one out there. Thinking seriously that Jackson may be part of one of these.

Did Houston eat some of the deal? They got 2 minor leaguers, don't know what kind of prospects they were But I looked it up and he is due 37mil over the next 2 years, and Miami took him and his stats are pretty much in line with Soriano for this year, and the recent past. please tell me Houston did not get out of that deal straight up!

Someone should probably lose their job over this. Let's see... you have a giant park that limits the effectiveness of a power hitter and makes it pretty much impossible to play him in the outfield. You have a young first baseman you already sent to the minors because of his struggles with the park AND are already talking of moving Logan Morrison to first next year full time to improve team speed. So you trade for a giant player who moves like a cardboard cutout, who can only possibly play 1st on this team. Then in 2-3 weeks you start the fire sale? Brilliant....call them about Ian Stewart, they may not realize he's hurt.

I'd feel better if Soriano wasn't in the lineup. However if we see alfi pulled sometime here, it could be a really good sign!

so maybe we can still win the Z for Volstad trade! I guess when the PR department was spinning that Volstad might actually be better than Z, they should have worded it, that Z might end up worse than Volstad.

His swing is very smooth, doesn't seem like much but then the ball jumps. Yesterdays blast looked like a nice shot the other way, then it just carries out.

Of course it doesn't hurt the Braves search that Sheets has been a stud off the scrap heap and Minor has decided he is the 2nd coming of Steve Carlton in July. He has posted a sub 2.00 era, almost 9k/per 9, 0.7 whip. 6.5 to 1 k/bb ratio and averages 7 innings per start. Jurrgens has been awful, so they could still use another starter. With Beachy out, it would make sense that it's a "rental" rather than someone with time left on a contract. Being only 4 down to the Nats and in a very tight wild card race, they can't afford to send out a guy with a 7+ era every 5th day

There is talk of Trout pulling a freddy Lynn and winning ROY and MVP. It's hard to argue his stats aren't legit or that he would win because of it being a good story. He does lead the AL in batting average, runs, stolen bases. He is 2nd in slugging, triples and OPS. He is third in ob% and running away with all the WAR catagories. He is also on a pace to hit 30+ hrs, drive in 100, steal 60 bases, and score 150 runs. Harper's stats are good (for a rook) but not the category of Rizzo's should he continue at close to his pace. The amazing part of Harper is that he is 19, and is in his 2nd season of any pro ball. He has played a total of 130 minor league games and is barely 2 years past his high school classes graduation date (he graduated early). When you think of Rizzo's struggles last year and the adjustments he had to make, Harper's success is pretty amazing. That being said if Rizzo finishes around .300, and with a 30hr/100 rbi pace, it would be sad to see him lose out to a .260/ 20 hr/65 rbi season.

DeJesus has done enough of that already. OK, that really wasn't my point back then...it was more about playing young kids to find out what they had rather than singling out anyone by name, but I probably deserve that. Looking back I should have had more confidence in the staff to give everyone a look. I think they (and the fans) have gotten a pretty good look at the main guys (campana, barney, cardenas, valbuena, clevenger,etc).I should have known they would give everyone who deserved it more than an adequate shot. I'll alibi on the past administrations and staffs having no idea what they were doing. That being said, If Vitters takes at bats away from Valbuena, I'll be pissed!

did they broadcast it? youtube?...iphone? anything I would have had that on WGN, showing the gun on every fastball! (of course on tape delay in case he sucked.)
