  1. That absolutely hillarious, in the most depressing kind of way.
  2. He has the same plan every other Cubs GM from antiquity has had: ruining GlassCow's life.
  3. I don't know what's worse...the fact that we lost all those picks or the fact that the two middle relievers were actually ranked higher than our starting right fielder and, as a result, the lowest pick will go to the Twins That is hillarious and depressing at the same time. Well done.
  4. I read an article that stated catcher Ramon Hernandez is one of Tejada's best friends. Could the recent preliminary 4-year contract agreement with Hernandez be enough to convince Tejada to stay put? "Well, my team will still suck, but at least I'll be able to hang out with my buddy." I've got a problem with the whole thing anyway. If you have a grievance about the direction of a team where you are one of the recognized leaders, you don't vocalize it for the world to hear, you talk to management behind closed doors. They'll respect you for voicing your opinion (if they are good managers,) and also respect the fact that you haven't damaged the team in a process to try to ultimately make them better. I love Tejada as a player, but these recent puzzling statements have not endeared him to me as a person.
  5. When you have an endless pool of minor league talent to fill your lineup holes with, it doesn't take a genius to win. His postseason managing, however, is atrocius. I can accept Guillen more, simply because he really made no managerial mistakes the entire post season. In the NL, I might have considered Frank Robinson or Ned Yost. In the AL, Mike Scoscia (sp?) or Eric Wedge. I can't understand this line of thinking. Call me crazy, but didn't Baker have a seemingly 'endless' pool of minor league talent to choose from when he got here? The difference is that Cox has the stones to actually play the rookies he is given. The guy has done a tremendous job down there, and in my mind this was by far his best season. He got his props, and deserved them.
  6. Nice to see my Huskers win a game for the first time in 87 years. Between the Cubs and Huskers, it's really pretty difficult to get out of bed in the morning.
  7. Listening to Phillips is among the most painful things in this world. I hate his voice and the idiotic blather that spews forth from it.
  8. Yep, was watching it. Nebraska had the game wrapped up with that interception, but they just fumbled it away on the return. I feel like I've been slugged in the stomach and then kicked in the junk while trying to gain my breath. Life blows. It could be worse. You could be a Cubs fan. Oh, wait... That's an excellent point. This year has blown.
  9. Yeah, great finish. Not for me.

  11. You're having a nice year there buckaroo try to enjoy it will ya? I am, just waiting for the bottom fall out though.
  12. My Huskers continue to be the worst undefeated team in college football. I went to the game Saturday. It was effective, but extremely ugly. Texas Tech will be a major challenge. If we win, there is no reason we shouldn't crack back into the polls.
  13. Barrett's alright, but I wouldn't necessarily mourn if he was traded away. I felt last year and still feel that trading Damian Miller away was a mistake, given how well he worked with the staff in 2003. That said, I'm certain that I am far in the minority when it comes to this opinion.
  14. Dempster isn't one of the problems of this team. I think he's done a tremendous job, and should be rewarded with a fair contract. I just hope we don't see a repeat of the Borowski fiasko.
  15. I hope for our sake the Cubs keep playing like they did against the Dirtybirds. I wouldn't count on it though. Congrats to your boys for the way they have been playing. Most impressive.
  16. Trust me, I can. This team is impossible to watch.
  17. Haven't had a chance to read anyone else's comments re: this trade yet. I was and am very pumped though.
  18. Someone forgetting about all of Mo Alou's GIDP to 3rd base? Felt like he made six for every HR he hit, at least. No, I remember them. I hated Alou whenever it happened. For the record, I like TWalk. I'm just pissed off with his recent play. I'm sure it will improve.
  19. As I've stated previously, give me Latroy's salary and you can come boo me as often as you like at my job. You know, if I could I would. I dont think anyone here could take the sustained jeers, racial slurs, threats, etc that LaTroy recieved here, and still is apparently. Racial slurs? Threats? All I heard was 'Hawkins Sucks'. Obviously there is never a justifiable reason for slurs or threats, regardless of the circumstances. Tonight that's all you heard, but he recieved far worse while he was here. Like Mark said, you hear much worse things in the bleachers. I'll just never understand this 'I'm entitled to boo' mentality people have adopted. You boo the opposing team, you don't boo your team. Yes I realize LaTroy is no longer on this team, but this all started when he was here after taking a pay cut to come here. Obviously you're going to be upset/disapointed at some point but turning on the athletes and citing salary as justification is a pretty poor way of handling it, IMO. I can understand your position of booing opposing players and cheering Cubs players. However, my particular strategy is to boo any players (regardless of team) that contribute to the Cubs losing games, and cheer any players (regardless of team) that contribute to the Cubs winning games. For instance, during tonight's miserable loss, I was cheering for Hawkins. I loved seeing him serve up that bomb to MikeyB.

  22. He cost the Cubs a lot of games in the year+ he was with us. I don't feel a great deal of sympathy for him.
  23. I'm getting very tired of seeing him hitting into double plays with the game on the line. He is quickly making a bid for being being my most hated player on the roster.
  24. Why Carlos Lee? He's got a bunch of RBI this year, but his numbers on the whole don't suggest paying through the roof to get him(.268/.340/.528). I'd trade for him just to keep him from ever facing Cubs pitching again. The guy absolutely murders us year after year.
  25. Sadly enough, I met Woo Woo at LaGuardia airport after the dreadful Yankees series where I watched the Cubs play like idiots three days in a row. I'll never get out of my head his horrible chant: "Back in October!" "Woo!", "Back in October!" "Woo!"
