  1. Amazing revelation there lol...
  2. Just get Theo in a horsefeathering room with him, that’s all I ask Hasn't Theo already been in a room with him, though? Didn't most teams schedule meetings with him in LA this weekend? I'm sure Theo and Jed met Ohtani and his agent when the Cubs did their presentation.
  3. So why are the Giants still being considered, but the Dodgers are out? The Dodgers are too big a market for Ohtani? I'm happy the Yankees are no longer being considered. This news sucks, but I didn't think the Cubs had a great chance to land him anyway.
  4. Wait...What? Seriously, the Giants and Mariners? Hmm, if the Giants get Stanton and Ohtani -- that's a damn good offseason for them.
  5. Grichuk > Bryant Grichuk is also definitely getting moved this offseason. I think Piscotty might get traded too. What will Cardinals fans say then lol?
  6. Pedro Strop is a pretty damn good relief pitcher, if most of our pitching prospects can turn in to that I’m completely fine with it with the nature of their suckage. I know there’s a want for more and would be nice develop some middle rotation guys at least but middle-high end RPs aren’t bad outcomes for most minor league pitching prospect. Yeah. I agree with that sentiment completely. If many, not even most, of the pitching prospects in your system can at least become useful middle-high end relief pitchers -- you should be damn happy. I consider P. Strop to be a fine outcome for many of our pitching prospects. You do hope one or two will develop into a #3 or #4 starter. That said, elite bullpens are expensive and hard to build. Having elite RPs in your bullpen is especially important come playoff time. The Cubs need some young pitchers to come up and have an impact either in the bullpen or the starting rotation.
  7. Yeah, I think besides going to the AL this is probably a best case scenario. Maybe the Rockies, but that'll never happen lol. I was thinking if he went to the Phillies that that would also work out well for the Cubs. The Phillies are still behind the Mets and Nationals, and it'll be a few more years before they're true contenders again.
  8. The draft screws over players. In the US, this results in some guys choosing to take a college scholarship instead of turning pro. In latin american this will do nothing but screw more players. It's clear they need to do away with cost suppressing rules and allow teams to sign prospects when they want. Exactly. A lot of these problems would be alleviated if the owners weren't trying to save money at every corner, at the expense of the players who actually bring in MLB's profits. I completely agree with you Raisin, but the Player's Union is also partially to blame for this shitty situation. They were okay with screwing over amateur players (Domestic and International) in CBA discussions if that meant more money was being funneled towards established MLB players. MLB owners were pushing hard for an International Draft, and it didn't happen because so many foreign players were outraged and demanded that it not be included. PS: I just wanted to make clear that I am NOT in favor of an International Draft either. That would create many more problems...
  9. Well, this news sucks -- one of the top prospects in next year's draft class (M. Porter Jr.) will need surgery on his back. The recovery time is 3-4 months. He might recover in time for pre-draft workouts, but this definitely hurts his stock. https://www.theringer.com/2017/11/21/16687264/michael-porter-jr-out-for-season
  10. Well, I guess now J. Coppolella and C. Correa can get together over a 6-pack and commiserate over the good old days -- you know, when they were cheating and getting away with it before they got caught lol.
  11. Really? That's awesome news. I'm glad the Cubs are reaching out to former players.
  12. I'm thrilled with any of Doncic, Porter, Ayton, or Bagley. Will be fine with Bamba too. I'm really hoping to add some picks by taking on bad contracts. I'm thinking they'll have some nice opportunities over the next month or two. I'm all in on M. Bagley and think he's the best player and has highest ceiling. I wish he wasn't playing for Duke, but whatever man. The problem I have with L. Doncic is that the scouting reports claim he's a good athlete, but not an amazing athlete. His future position is either SG or point/small forward. Maybe he's part of the new breed of super big PGs? Anyway, when was the last time a European player came over and was super dominant at SG/SF? Usually impact European talents are big men like the Gasol brothers, Nowitzki, Jokic, R. Gobert, A. Sabonis back in the day, etc. Sure, the 'Greek Freak' is technically European, but he's a world class athlete and his parents are from Nigeria. I can't think of too many European players at SF/SG that have developed into impact players...
  13. :clapping: I wholeheartedly agree and I love Baez, but I'm pretty sure he's dealing with all that horsefeathers going down in Puerto Rico. I hope he's doing okay and his whole family/community too. People (Americans) really should be more pissed off over what's happening in Puerto Rico with the whole Whitefish fiasco.
  14. I don't know how much significance J. Parks had for the Cubs, but he did seem like a weirdo. I believe I read he was one of the scouts who followed the Yankees and Chapman specifically, and highly recommended trading for him before the trade deadline in 2016. I mean I really don't think it's that hard to scout Chapman and realize he'd be a good addition to the team lol. What I want to know is how the Cubs valued A. Miller vs. A. Chapman before they traded for Chapman, and if the Cubs could've worked out a trade for A. Miller without having to give up Schwarber. Apparently, Cashman was adamant about Schwarber being the center piece in a trade for A. Miller. I doubt we'll ever find out...
  15. So the Bulls are doing pretty well in the L column of the NBA standings. Only Dallas has a worse record than us right now. I can't tell if Dallas is genuinely this bad or is tanking hard? I'm pretty sure they're tanking because M. Cuban admitted that's what they would try to do once they became mediocre and/or bad. I feel bad for D. Nowitzki, but honestly he's just not that good anymore. This upcoming draft isn't that deep in impact talent so the Bulls really need to land a top-3 pick.
  16. I agree that it is kind of messed up his posting team (Ham Fighters) will get a nice $20 million while the most he can get is roughly $3.5 million this offseason. Of course, the reason why he can't make what he is truly worth is because the Player's Union fucked up negotiations for international players and allowed these new stupid rules to go into effect during the last CBA negotiations. Why does a player have to wait till they're 25 to become a FA if they've played professionally overseas? You'd think teams would want the player to come over as soon as possible, like in S. Ohtani's case. He's definitely joining MLB next season, but the Player's Union (and MLB ownership) really screwed him over.
  17. I'm not even willing to trade Happ for Gausman + Britton straight up. I have some concerns about Gausman as well. I like both of those pitchers and think they'd do well on the Cubs, but they are expensive and getting close to FA. I think we should talk to the Rockies, and see how high (or not) they are on J. Hoffman. I still like him and think his curveball and repertoire will do a lot better once he leaves Colorado. Another thing is they don't strike me as having a modern smart savvy FO.
  18. Yeah, I think context matters here. Soler was viewed as a depreciating asset by Theo and Jed with an extensive history of injuries. The Cubs probably sold low on him. If we had moved him after the 2015 season we would've gotten a lot more for him. I don't blame the Cubs for that since we re-signed D. Fowler right before the start of the 2016 season. Z. Britton also had a down year and his stats aren't super impressive. I definitely wouldn't trade Happ for just one season of Britton. I like Britton, but I have some concerns about his health. Happ is probably regarded pretty highly by other teams. Every writer and prospect analyst has spoken highly of his bat and offensive potential. Defense has always been the question mark, and I think he's fine in the OF. I really like Happ, and would only move him for a cost-controlled young starting pitcher.
  19. I'm really confused about why the Bulls will be hosting the All-Star game in 2020... I mean that's cool, but I doubt the host city will have any All-Stars in that game unless Markanen or LaVine improve a lot. It's possible I guess. I think the Bulls will be pretty bad for like the next 3-4 years though. It's a shame we never got to host the game when the Bulls were good, and D. Rose still had functioning knees/ligaments and was a great player.
  20. Cubs Top 10 Prospects 1. Aramis Ademan, SS 2. Adbert Alzolay, RHP 3. Jose Albertos, RHP 4. Victor Caratini, C 5. Alex Lange, RHP 6. Oscar De La Cruz, RHP 7. Brendon Little, LHP 8. Thomas Hatch, RHP 9. Jen-Ho Tseng, RHP 10. Nelson Velazquez, OF I'm surprised they have Ademan rated #1 on the list for the Cubs. Everything I've read about him to this point described him as a solid, average-tools infielder with a chance to stick at SS, but not someone who will be a plus defensive player. Just didn't seem like someone with a high ceiling. I wonder where they have the Cubs farm system ranked -- probably in the bottom third in MLB. This list is pretty crappy compared to year's past, but that happens when you're making trades to help the big league team. I'm really not high on T. Hatch or Jen-Ho Tseng. I do like A. Alzolay and O. De La Cruz, and hope they can remain healthy and move quickly next year.
  21. Huh, wow that's surprising. Man, you'd think he would be into tennis with those kind of genes. Then again A. Agassi claimed he started to resent playing tennis because of his demanding father. I wonder if he's ever met K. Bryant's dad or gotten hitting lessons with him.
  22. Nope. I think Zimmerman is toast. Heyward has some value at least.
  23. I guessed I just missed it somehow? I'm just confused about why he even tried it... That is disgusting and he really needs to stop trying to lick things lol.
  24. WTF? I have serious concerns about Puig now...
