  1. Yeah I listened to an interview Theo gave about a year ago, and he credits Kevin Towers a lot for teaching him about how a FO works and giving him a chance. Lots of people inside the game liked the guy.
  2. Yeah, they're haggling over the option year is what it looks like. Picking up the option seems like a no-brainer to me... It really shouldn't be that hard to find a team for Niko next year if they decide to re-sign Cousins and don't want to pay Niko. I'm not super high on bringing back Asik, but I guess he could be useful and won't help the Bulls win that many games down the stretch. Curious about the draft pick and how much protection it has -- it could end up being a decent pick. Hopefully the trade happens and doesn't fall through.
  3. I think it's totally fair to criticize the Cubs for their lack of success in finding prospects/pitchers after the 1st round of previous drafts (besides D. Cease and I guess Z. Godley). I think maybe they've revamped their approach and hired a new group of scouts at the lowest levels? Like TT said hopefully hiring Benedict will help in pitcher development. I'm certainly disappointed with the lack of success in properly identifying/developing pitching prospects from the previous draft classes (2012-2017) under Jason McLeod.
  4. The Bulls are losing to the Bucks right now. Bulls have a good losing streak going lol. They're currently tied with Brooklyn for the eighth pick in next's year draft. Again, we really need to be picking in the top 5-6 in next year's draft to land an impact player. Sidenote: Boogie Cousins going down with a torn Achilles really sucks for the Pelicans, and I wonder what their long-term plans are. Anthony Davis will be a FA in a couple years and they haven't really properly built a contender around him. They had a good team this year until this devastating injury. I'm sure they'll try to re-sign Cousins, but some players take a while to bounce back from tearing their Achilles. Definitely another player the Bulls need to target if he ever becomes available, and illustrates why we need those high draft picks/trade assets.
  5. The Cubs almost did that in 2016. Not a big deal, but yeah it'd be pretty cool. Just need to sign Darvish and make him our opening day starter. I'm sure he'll dominate against that AAA squad Miami is running out...
  6. I would've loved to see this new format for the All-Star game in the 90's when we had MJ and Pippen. I would also love this new format when the whole feud between Shaq and Kobe was happening lol. Next year, they need to televise the All-Star Draft so we can know who Lebron and Steph selected and in what order. They'll probably be the two Captains next year.
  7. Most likely, we'll get another pick once Arrieta signs somewhere for what I'm assuming will be a contract for $50+ million. That pick will also be after the 2nd round. These new rules really suck considering the Cubs would've had two picks after the first round as compensation for losing Davis and Arrieta under the old CBA.
  8. It's possible. Who are you seeing making the jump into the top 50 by next winter? For me, Ademan and Albertos have the best chances right now. As currently perceived, there are only a handful of guys with that kind of ceiling in the organization. That could change going forward, of course. A. Lange could vault back into being considered a top prospect. Even a top 50 prospect if he returns to the form he showed as a freshman at LSU when he was consistently hitting the mid-90s with his fastball. If his plus fastball returns and he commands a plus-plus curveball (grade 70) for 100+ innings he'll definitely rocket up the prospect charts. I wasn't super high on Lange when we drafted him, but I think his potential and upside are intriguing. Like his upside could be turning into a better Justin Grimm with good enough command to remain a starter.
  9. LOL. That was pretty funny. Even a tweet with a mention of my hometown of Carbondale, Il! Lots of Cubs fans live down there. That was awesome to see.
  10. Well, I'm pretty happy Kerry got 2 votes at least. One of my favorite Cubs' players of all-time. I wonder how great a career he could've had if injuries/D. Baker hadn't derailed it... I was worried he might get 0 votes like Zambrano.
  11. Well, that's Ben Simmons for you -- 19 pts, 17 Rebs, 14 Asts, 2 Blks. Incredible player, but again is not a great shooter. The 76ers just need to hire a good shooting coach and have him practice shooting all day, and build up that muscle memory during the offseason. He's easily going to win Rookie of the Year.
  12. Got it, thanks. So offseason would likely be game replays, some sort of Cubs news show maybe once a week, some original programming/documentaries, The Score Simulcasts and like Loyola/UIC/NIU basketball games I was thinking about original programming/documentaries for a Cubs network as well. I don't know if you guys watch "The Starters" on NBATV, but it's an excellent show and really funny too. It used to be called "The Basketball Jones" and aired on some Canadian sports channel. They made a lot of funny videos/original content back in the day: [bbvideo=853,480]https://vimeo.com/16923891[/bbvideo] I would love if the Cubs created a show like this around some young Cubs fans who are really funny, but also really knowledgeable about the game at the same time. I love "The Starters" and one of the guys on the show (Trey Kirby) is a huge Bulls fan. Highly recommend it for anyone that has NBATV. I think a show similar to this, but obviously more Cubs-centric would do really well on this new network.
  13. Yeah, that was a weird game last night. Bulls should've won it at multiple points. They really need to trade those vets you mentioned and start tanking hard. No glory in barely missing the playoffs...
  14. Good. I hate Jason Kidd and think he's an idiot. Bucks can do better, and need to do better before Giannis and Bledsoe decide to go elsewhere. PS: I hope the Bulls target Giannis if he ever becomes disgruntled and pushes for a trade out of Milwaukee.
  15. Yeah, I wanted the Cubs to take N. Pearson in last year's draft with their top pick, but I was okay with B. Little. I'm also worried we might have taken the wrong JC pitcher :? ...
  16. A really confusing guy. I don't follow the NBA much, but it's weird to see a 6'10" PG who doesn't shoot 3's or FT's. Well, most players 6'10" play PF and/or SF so it's just weird seeing someone so tall initiating the offense while playing PG. Simmons honestly could play 4 positions (PG, SF, PF and C) with SG being the exception because he can't shoot lol. M. Fultz was suppose to be the perfect complement to Simmons, but his shot is even worse and he can't even make shots in practice now.
  17. Man I really miss Chris Farley :( . I wish he was still alive and did one of these interviews with A. Rizzo lol.
  18. Yeah, Ben Simmons isn't a great shooter. Lebron wasn't a great shooter either when he entered the NBA. Simmons might become an average shooter in time; he's great at every other part of the game. Absolutely amazing passer for someone his size and has good handles too.
  19. So I knew this day was coming. The Cards finally dumped Grichuk on some team. I'm glad he's gone to the AL too. The dude sucked against the majority of teams but somehow always killed the Cubs. The stupid tweets from a couple years ago by Cardinals' fans claiming Grichuk/Piscotty being superior to KB are glorious to behold now lol. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  20. I had the same thought, but honestly Dunn playing well and getting playing time is more important than tanking. He might miss a lot of time with this injury. Getting playing time for our young players (LM, LaVine and Dunn) and trading vets should allow the Bulls to do both goals: tank and foster player development.
  21. Second set of tests say he's got a concussion evidently. Dang, that sucks. That fall did look pretty nasty. Weird thing is Curry and Thompson didn't even notice and kept playing.
  22. If Jake goes the sign midseason route, he should just sign a 1-year deal so he can be a free agent again next year when numerous teams will be willing to go over the luxury tax. Yeah, that makes sense. The only problem is if he has a bad year then his hopes of signing that multiyear $100+ million deal are probably over.
  23. This is the play that SpongeWorthy is referring to. It's pretty awful: Hopefully, he doesn't have a concussion. He might need to sit out a few games though. https://deadspin.com/kris-dunn-dunks-smashes-face-1822181660
  24. It's fine. Jersey Cubs Fan is going to be a prick. I expect that by now. ConstableRabbit liked my post to "horsefeathers off" for some reason so we're fine. No beef with ConstableRabbit lol. A. Prick That's kind of funny. Keep doing that bro. I bet you're really popular at work.
