  1. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cards try to run on Lester to get in his head, Baez's tagging ability might come in handy on throws to second.
  2. The knock on Almora is that he wasn't a very good hitter in the minors, and hence the projection systems don't think he will do well offensively. His big flaw is that he is hard to walk. If he keeps hitting, pitchers will stop challenging him as much, hopefully he will be patient and take his walks. Speaking of patience, Heyward walked in all three of his plate appearances today. Not quite as nice as hitting home runs, but still a positive sign we might get pre-2016 Heyward. Strike zone recognition is important.
  3. Legit. Here is the video.
  4. It was hit hard at least, last year most of his ground balls to second were soft contact.
  5. Probably sample size, he had normal splits in a lot more at bats in the minors. 2013/2014 (AA/AAA) vs LHP: .295/.372/.326 vs RHP: .336/.416/.474
  6. Not in his career. 1st time: .712 2nd time: .705 3rd time: .755 This year it seems hitters do worst in their 1st AB and best in their 2nd AB, but it's a small sample size.
  7. Philip Humber threw a perfect game against the Mariners. Career ERA of 5.31, 4.6 FIP.
  8. Heyward's hit several balls hard this series, he just hasn't had any luck. As has been well documented, he's also a slow starter and is always terrible at the plate for the first few weeks of a season. He'll start hitting to go with his defense soon.
  9. I'd start Warren over Cahill. Warren has been a good starter and fangraphs even called him the best 6th starter in baseball.
  10. Heyward has been a slow starter for the past few years. Through the first 15 games of the season: 2013: .115 /.258/.269 2014: .136/.271/.254 2015: .212/.224/.364 He'll get it going in the next week or two like he always has.
  11. Heyward is a notorious slow starter. Through the first 15 games of the season: 2013: .115 /.258/.269 2014: .136/.271/.254 2015: .212/.224/.364 He'll get it going in the next week or two like he always has.
