  1. I agree with the rest, but I disagree on this part. Pujols Ks 2008- 54 2009- 64 2010- 76 2011- 58 It's because of fewer walks (not just fewer, but a HUGE drop in one year), not more Ks that lead to a higher BB:K ratio. Pujols still rarely Ks for a slugger. He was also a bit unlucky with a BABIP of .277 this year. Still, you gotta worry when a guy go from 100+ BBs the past 3 years then drop to 61 this year.
  2. Just wanted to say this... as I've seen some mentioned Carpenter possibly being a FA this offseason in a couple threads already. Didn't he sign an extension like a month or 2 ago? I could've swore he signed like 2-3 years extension for like 20 mil???

  4. So, if the budget is $150MM on the dot (let's say), where would you guys expect that leaves us after draft/amateur signings? Anywhere from 125 mil (a draft year like this year and 10 mil on amateur- that would be a fluke year where both draft and amateur were very deep and awesome) to possibly 140 mil (7 mil on draft and 3 mil on amateur on a down year), but I imagine Cubs are gonna be big spenders on the draft every year now so I would say anywhere in the 130s. Red Sox were in this range basically from 2004-2009 before it ballooned to 160s the past 2 years...
  5. If the Red Sox get anything more than a mediocre A-ball pitcher, they should be happy. Glorious. Trinidad never touched a BA top 100 list. His minor league stats below. Struggling to come up with an equivalent prospect off the top of my head, but it's not McNutt. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=trinid001hec He was Cubs #10 prospect in 1994. Not sure why he wasn't more highly regarded cuz he was good at every level (beside the 24 IP at AA) and being young at each level. 6th round pick in 1991 draft. Maybe he wouldn't be top 100 prospect, but I figured he would be better than #10 in the Cubs organization in 1994 (or not making it in 92 or 93) with those numbers.
  6. That ballpark is a joke. Thank goodness it will be in the AL now. haha I can't wait to see Hamilton hitting BOMBS in that park now.
  7. If it literally would allow Theo to pilfer whatever 5 or 6 guys he wants, sure. I think that'd be a great help to him. Otherwise, no way in hell. Lets say for example... the offer is J Jax/Flaherty plus maybe a "sleeper" prospect (a rumor that was posted on here) for Theo only (or maybe 1 guy can go with him that is down on Theo's list and Red Sox don't care if that guy leaves).... Now lets say if the offer was changed to McNutt/Flaherty plus "sleeper" prospect for Theo and like 3 or 4 (or possibly more) of the guys that ARE on the top of his list... Would you do the trade? IMO, I would do that trade. Theo would have several guys in the Cubs organization right away and wouldn't have to overhaul it in one offseason (heck if he got his guys, he can slowly bring guys in the organization the next 2 years instead of trying to get most of them this offseason). Because of that, Theo can focus on the team and the offseason (FA/trades/etc...) instead of doing everything plus trying to hire guys to be in the organization. McNutt is worth giving up if it means Theo can bring the guys that HE want over to the Cubs.
  8. I think about two people including you have actually seen Hackers. Kid, don't threaten me. There are worse things than death, and uh, I can do all of them.
  9. Sweet... I'm gonna do my happy dance.
  10. Dump truck, hell, I've got three M88A2s. Those could tow Ft. Knox to where ever his house is. You've got three M88A2's hanging around the house? geesh ... but man, my buddy told me those things can tow a ton. I could probably google up the specs for what it can handle, but I figured I'd ask anyways out of curiosity. The recovery section in my unit has three of them, I don't think Uncle Sam would like me having them at my house. With the winch set up for a 3:1 pull, it can handle around 200-210 tons fairly easily. That's around 400,000 lbs. That enough money for Theo? Even in $1 bills? Impressive. I know a guy whose dad own a mining company and he has a couple Liebherr T 282B. Those suckers are awesome. It holds (it's a haul truck) something like 350 tons. Then again, it's not like you can drive these around anywhere. haha
  11. Is a Liebherr T 282B big enough for you???
  12. Lets not talk about that one.... I have a lot of friends who went there and I can't hang out with them when it's about college basketball... They can't understand why recruits wouldn't want to go there like it's Duke or UNC or something...
  13. I was gonna bring up Hoffman's 1999 or some of Mariano's best years. Or heck even the insane numbers Kimbrel has posted this year. But damn, I don't think anything tops that. I tried looking, couldn't find anything. I think the best I found to compete with it was Jose Mesa's 1995: 64IP 1.13ERA 46SV 58K 8ER 17BB 1.03WHIP 418ERA+ Papelbon's 2006 was better than Mesa's... 517 ERA+. He had the next highest ERA+ after Eck that was strictly a closer *then Goose Gossage (1981- 465 ERA+) then Mesa*. If you go just by RPs, Joey Devine in 2008 had a 706 ERA+ in 45.2 IP. If you go higher than 45 IP min, then Eck is the highest. Beside Papelbon, Rob Murphy (1986- 546 ERA+) and Denny Reyes (2006- 510 ERA+) are the only 500 ERA+ club with 45 IP min. It's weird how Rivera best ERA+ season is just 319 (compared to guys above). Hoffman 265. Wagner 293. Fingers 333. Sutter 328. Wilhelm 230. Heck, even Gagne "awesome" 2003 was 337 ERA+.
  14. Not to mention 6 teams are within 5 games after Cubs/Mariners... Cubs could realistically go anywhere from 2nd to 12th pick for next year's draft... It's a good thing they got more away games left as they're worse on the road by a good margin (.464 win % at home- 12 games left vs .403 away- 19 games left) so that they can stay around that 5th/6th pick.
  15. Busch Light, Old Style, PBR and Keystone are all battling it out for dominance in the shallow gene pool market. You can go straight to hell for lumping PBR in there He forgot about the Beast, but he was right to lump PBR in there. The best [expletive] beer is still [expletive] beer. He also forgot Schlitz and High Life. And, of course, Natty Ice. Best of the best. What??? No love for Wiedemann or Red Dog or Schaefer or Stroh's or Hamm's??? That's not even getting into the malt liquor...
  16. Did that include the Vogelbach signing? I got like.... (not exact and just from numbers on here) 5.1 mil from Baez/Maples 2.85 mil from Vogelbach/Dunston Jr 2.9 mil from the 11 guys Raisin said earlier a couple pages back... That's 10.85 mil right there....
  17. I know it's not 23 mil, but Gil Meche retired before this season (although it was cuz of injury or didn't want to risk more injuries I believe) and left like what??? 11 mil??? Don't remember if MLBPA had a fit about him leaving all that money on the table though... If Z really wants OUT, there's no one on the planet that can make him return.
  18. I'm not sure the last time the nfl had a must-watch defensive player, maybe LT, but suh is pretty much in that category Greg Lloyd... That guy was fun to watch. They should've had a mic on him every game. Early/mid 90s had a lot of defensive guys that were fun to watch, not sure if they were "must-watch" though... Carnell Lake/Steve Atwater to name a couple more...
  19. Was watching that video... At the end, Why in the world was Rothschild trying to stop Z from swinging the bat at the Gatorade machine??? Last thing I wanna do if Z is pissed and has a bat in his hand is stay as far away as possible...
  20. That was Prior. I was thinking it was Prior as well...
  21. Interesting....
  22. The way Hendry is going right now... it wouldn't surprise me. hahaha If Hayden is fully healthy, he's an good upgrade over Jennings and Tillman/Hayden combo will be very solid. But he missed games the past 3 seasons though so like minnesotacubsfan said, he's a little upgrade. I guess Bears thinks if they get a little upgrade (no big impact) at several positions that it'll be a big upgrade to the team overall. Like everyone said... they still need to sign an OL (I prefer Brian Waters to a 2 year deal and cut Garza- to free up some money) and then draft an OL somewhat early in next years draft (although Bears should be looking at WR/CB/LB first probably in the draft). Angelo still has time to sign an OL. This isn't the offseason signings I was hoping for, but it's not that bad or horrible really and I'm not willing to say it good or above average either. Also has anyone heard ANYTHING about Carlos Rogers? and Grimes as well? I wonder what type of $$$ he's looking for and what teams are looking at him... I'm surprised Floyd isn't signed as well. There are quite a few players out there that can help out the Bears... Anybody know how much $$$ Bears got left?
  23. Just throwing this out there.... then a few minutes later...
  24. I'm fine with it really. Bears already got a good core so Okoye/Gholston are backup at the moments (DE- Peppers/Izzy/Wooten/Gholston then DT- Paea/Adams/Melton/Okoye and that's not mentioning other DLs either). If you got a good core, why not take a chance on 2 young guys who are low risk/high reward? They still need to sign at least 2 OLs though. It's the most pressing need on the team.
  25. They waived Herman Johnson, if I remember correctly that huge hulking OG. Harrison apparently showed up out of shape. I hope they cut Harrison and sign Amobi Okoye.... Heck I just hope they go after Okoye anyway.
