  1. This would be a lot less concerning if we didn’t just watch a 60-game season where they hit .220 as a team and scored 1 or 0 runs in 10 of their last 21 games (playoffs included) followed by bringing back basically the exact same group of batters.
  2. Joc looks awful, sure. But so has everyone else. They’re hitting .132 as a team. And assuming they call J-Hey’s rolling bunt there an error, have a good chance of getting no hit today.
  3. Couldn’t help but notice that our old friends Lester and Schwarber were two of the Nats put in the IL due to COVID.
  4. Not that Watson to the Bears was ever in the remotest likelihood, but it still looks like there may have been a bullet dodged there.
  5. The "refused to develop him" storyline is idiotic. No reasonable person believes that one. Trubisky sucks. The draft prognosticators rate horsefeathers QBs very high all the time. Trubisky may suck, but he's statistically better than either of the QBs the Bears now have on their roster and is likely to sign a contract for significantly less than what the Bears are paying either Foles or Dalton this year.
  6. Why does anyone in the Bears organization think that Nagy is going to do better developing the next QB prospect they bring in when he failed so miserably with the last prospect that he was specifically hired to develop? Unless they can get up high enough to draft Fields, they're likely to end up with a prospect rated lower than Trubisky was when they drafted him. Mitch was probably taken 10 picks too high, but he was still a legitimate top of the first round pick and Nagy either failed to develop him or refused to do so, depending on who you ask. And that's the question that I think a lot of Bears fans want answered... Why does this organization think Pace and Nagy should get another shot at this?
  7. It only took Pace 5 years to find a field goal kicker. Surely we fans can be patient and give him three or four more years to find a qb.
  8. Illinois’ ex-coach, Tim Beckman was an apple that didn’t fall far from Miles’ coaching tree. Gundy at Okie St, too, for that matter. Some real weirdos. Frankly, I don’t know how any rational person could sit them down for a job interview and say, “Yes! This is the guy I want leading my football program!”
  9. FG also projects Hendricks to post an ERA over a run above his career average and Davies nearly a run above his career average. If both pitchers are relatively healthy and have performances near their career norms, the Cubs starting pitching will be far better than FG projects.
  10. The one thing Darnold has going for him is that he’s still young enough to be called a legitimate prospect. He’s three years younger than Trubisky and only a year older than Mac Jones, the qb most likely to be available when the Bears pick in the first round. Assuming the Jets release Darnold, he’s likely be a smaller cap hit than a 1st round qb and the Bears would still be able to make a first round pick. So, the question is whether the Bears see anything on tape they think is salvageable. I don’t think grabbing Darnold and a day 2 qb while shoring up the OL and receiving core, and then seeing if any of Darnold, Foles, or Day2QB look like they can be “the guy” is the worst move the Bears can make. It would certainly be a better idea than overdrafting a guy like Jones or sending more picks on bringing in another mediocre veteran.
  11. I wouldn’t have been horribly mad had the Bears paid that to get Wentz, but I wouldn’t have been really excited either. Maybe Wentz goes back to being the guy he was in 2017 and proves me wrong, but I think it’s likely that other guys available for cheaper can bring the same performance to the Bears.
  12. I know he sucks now, but if the Cubs have to sign a sucky pitcher, it might as well be Jake.
  13. He’s fine for a fourth outfielder.
  14. Yikes. Didn't look at that, just passing stats. Fumbles are a worse issue than INTs to me, simply because fumbles from QBs typically go backwards in field position. Yep. His QBr is quite low for his passing stats and I presume this has a lot to do with it. He fumbled 13 times in 14 games his rookie season. He fumbled 5 times in 9 games this year, which is more of a middle of the pack rate. A problem that was fixed? Too small a sample size to draw a conclusion?
  15. Me as well, Wentz is actually an improvement, the Bears actually have a better OL and offensive weapons than the Eagles. Last night showed it clearly doesn't matter who is playing QB when your line can't block. So, with an uptick in line play and someone to throw to, Wentz, if dealt to the Bears, will probably bounce back from 2020. But the issue remains whatever Pace does he'll quite probably over pay. I don’t think the issue for anyone is Wentz in and of himself. The Bears need someone the play QB next year and he certainly isn’t the worst option. The question is the cost to get him in cap space and draft capital. There’s a trade for Wentz that makes sense. It’s just that most of us have zero faith in Pace to be able to pull it off and pretty much every news leak and/or baseless speculative tweet on possible packages confirms our fears.
  16. My question comes down to why the Bears would think this 60% completion percentage, 2:1 TD:Int ratio, 90 QB rating quarterback will be so much better than the 60% CMP%, 2:1 TD:Int, 90 Rtg quarterback that they just gave up on? To such an extent that they’d give up assets to get him and pay $25MM in 20201 when they’re already over the salary cap? Are they hanging their hats on 2017 and 2018? Because that’s starting to be a long time ago in NFL terms. People can point to his lack of weapons these last few years, but what weapons do the Bears have? Especially if they have to let Robinson walk because they can’t get under the cap any other way. If they really need to give up multiple draft picks and a player to get Wentz, they should just go all the way in and go after Watson.
  17. Carson Wentz has $59M guaranteed left on his deal and was the worst full time QB in the NFL last year. I don't understand why it isn't incumbent on them to pay us for the favor of taking him. I’m with you. I don’t see why the Bears should give up much in value for the privilege of paying Wentz $20MM a year. Put Mitch’s and Wentz’s career numbers side by side. Wentz is better but only marginally so. Certainly not to the extent where the Bears should be giving up picks to pay him $20MM a year when Mitch could be had for Marcus Mariota’s contract. Not that those are the only two options. I just don’t see why one guy is gold in the Bears’ eyes and the other guy is trash.
  18. Marwin Gonzalez and Jonathan Schoop are both probably upgrades at 2b. Maybe. I guess.
  19. He was ok in 17 and real good in 18. Then he started giving up a ton of HRs.
  20. They have bizarrely similar career stats and were born 11 months apart. They’re basically the same players.
  21. Vizquel getting more votes than Rolen is insane. Rolen was just as good defensively but could hit. Same holds for Andruw Jones. I’m not sure any of them belong in the Hall, but still...
  22. They did sign an actual backup catcher who shouldn't be too horrible over 200 plate appearances. But then, I guess that's me being optimistic that they didn't just sign their starting catcher...
  23. This is the type of catcher I figured they’d eventually sign. Now, need about five more Big League players to fill out the roster.
  24. I don’t like the idea of the Bears picking up Wentz. Physically, Wentz and Trubisky are completely different QBs, but in terms of production, they’ve put up very similar numbers, and at two years older, he’s much more of a finished product than Trubisky is. Between the two at the same price, I’d rather have Trubisky.
  25. Yea, so you're cutting a bunch of starters and only have FA to really replace them. They can of course fit his cap number, but building a winner around it is entirely different. yea, unless they were to get Watson with something akin to what they traded for Cutler with it would hamstring the team. Watson would end up where he is: a super talented QB on a team void of another talent. Draft a qb, or get lucky with Prescott Right. The Bears really don’t have any other assets to trade. So they’d probably be looking at minimum their next three first round draft picks for Watson.
