  1. just as impressive as 3 strikeouts on 10 pitches is that they were all looking. From my memory, the last cub pitcher with a performance as dominating as that was ten years ago this month. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200409110.shtml Check out the top of the 9th and look at the pitch totals for each at-bat.
  2. I remember Latroy Hawkins did it on 9 pitches against the Marlins in 2004.
  3. How did you do that? MLBTV subscription (includes Gameday Audio), two windows (one MLBTV, other audio), and a little manual pausing and restarting between both to get the timing synced up. :D I don't have any way to record it, but it's pretty cool. I have mlb.tv, I'm just not understanding how to open both the radio and tv broadcasts at the same time.
  4. How did you do that?
  5. By the way, did anybody else laugh at Hull's evil laugh in the background just before Derosa's ball got to the bleachers?
  6. I'm judging by what I could hear from TV and not the actual game, but the crowd seemed much louder after Wood's home run in game 7. Given the circumstances and what had happened the previous night and in the first inning of that game, I can't imagine it being any crazier. I've seen that clip probably a thousand times. "And Kerry WOOD plays longballllll"
  7. I can't bring myself to pick a guy who only plays one out of every 5 games to be the MVP. I go with Marmol. I think our bullpen goes into a tailspin without him in it.
  8. It really wasn't bad at all. Rockies got lucky. Between Ramirez's ball and the Tavares single this has been the worst luck inning ever. Don't forget the check swing single to start the inning.
  9. The thing that pisses me off is that even though Marquis has been garbage, his numbers end up looking just barely decent enough (in Hendry's mind) for him to keep starting.
  10. I'd seriously consider bringing in Marmol.
  11. Listen pal, talking bad about Soto is like talking bad about Castro in Cuba. You better destroy that post or expect a few bricks through your windows. I'm just sayin... 8-[ Anyway, this has meltdown inning written all over it. Mandatory Marquis Meltdown (MMM)
  12. Wind blowing straight in now. It hurt us there, but with a lead and Marquis on the mound, it's probably for the best that it keeps blowing in.
  13. Why is Francis getting the outside strike and not Marquis? Seriously.
  14. When I was in Miami last year I stayed at the same hotel as the Cubs. A lot of the players and coaches were walking around. I was all excited and then I saw Marquis walking towards me and I immediately got pissed off.
  15. Saying it over and over won't make it true.
  16. Why are you acting like Ian Stewart is some scrub?
  17. And Theriot helps him by swinging at ball 4 twice.
  18. SEC Freshman of the Year out of Ole Miss in....2001 I think. Was the Rockies 2nd round pick in 2004. He was also Eli Manning's backup QB at Ole Miss. Which is funny because Todd Helton was Peyton's backup at Tennessee for a while. Smith was also the guy that Papelbon (from Mississippi State) struck out to end the WS last year. Prior to the Fukudome acquisition, he was a guy I was hoping the Cubs would explore as a RF option. He's put up good numbers in the minors. Didn't he go yard in the 1 game playoff against SD last season?
  19. Wait, I thought Smith got 3rd when the ball went out of play?
